General Hospital star Kate Mansi's new film has a Port Charles connection

General Hospital star Kate Mansi is starring in a new film that will hit theaters this spring. Mansi, who plays Kristina Corinthos-Davis, has teamed up with former GH star Lauren Swickard (Janice) for a sequel to one of their past projects.

Mansi and Swickard star in and Swickard serves as executive producer on the new film Casa Grande: The Movie, which will debut in theaters on May 1, 2026. Emmy-nominated actor Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba, Stand and Deliver) headlines the movie, which is a continuation of a limited-run streaming series of the same name.

The original series, which aired in 2023, followed “several families in the farmland of Northern California as it navigates universal themes of class, immigration, culture and family.”

Directed by Juan Pablo Arias Muñoz, the movie is described as, “A prodigal daughter returns to her family’s ranch as her ailing father faces a ruthless bid for his property from a powerful rival, sparking a land war that could cost both families everything.”

Phillips plays the antagonist who is trying to get the property. The trailer shows him being a dangerous villain, threatening multiple people with guns. Mansi, who played Hunter Clarkman in the original series, returns for the film, which also stars Madison Lawlor, Christina Moore, Javier Bolaños, Daniel Edward Mora, Loren Escandon, Bruce Davison, Shalim Ortiz, and Charley Debenedetti.

Mansi is shown briefly in the trailer, which you can see below, knocking a masked man in the head with a shotgun. Swickard also appears to be shown briefly next to Phillips.

Swickard is the wife of General Hospital star Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase) and recurred on the show herself in 2023 as Janice, a nurse at Ferncliff who took care of Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson). She also wrote and produced the popular Netflix movies A California Christmas and its sequel, A California Christmas: City Lights, which starred her and her husband.

Both Mansi and Swickard promoted the trailer on their Instagram stories and shared behind-the-scenes posts from the film a year ago, as it was filmed in Nevada. You can see Mansi's post below.

Swickard gushed with pride over her brainchild in a 2025 post, captioning it, “We braved the cold. We wrapped a movie. Characters I thought would never come to be again came back to my world in full force. And I got to play within the world we created five years ago…@esxentertainment and @warnerbros making dreams come true. I have so much to say, so much love to pour out for this team and this cast - a post will never do it justice. @_jjuanpablo in awe.”

She also took time to credit her husband, saying, “And @joshswickard is a dream. There are no words. Get yourself a man who champions your dreams no matter the circumstance."
