Maurice Benard: General Hospital Star Maurice Benard Officiates His Daughter's Wedding

General Hospital character Sonny Corinthos, played by Maurice Benard, has been to the altar many times. This weekend, it was Benard who was at the altar. He wasn't the groom, but he played a key role in the ceremony as its officiator.

With This Ring

"My baby girl is married to her Prince Charming," Benard shared in an Instagram post, referring to his daughter, Cassidy, marrying Anthony Cammarata, who is now Benard's son-in-law.

"My speech may not have been perfect, but it was from the heart," Benard shared. "It was truly a beautiful day. There’s nothing I would’ve done differently. You can always feel weddings with love in the room. I’ve been to many, [and] the heart doesn’t lie.

"They have definitely found their soulmate. and in this life that means the world🎁."

The wedding video, which can be seen above, was edited by Marcus Coloma, who played Nikolas Cassadine on GH.

Speaking from the Heart

"These two have met their soulmate," said Benard.

"Do you take Cassidy to be your lawful wedded wife, to love and cherish her in good times and in bad?" the actor asked the groom, who happily replied in the affirmative!

Then, Benard turned to his daughter and asked her the same. "Do you take Anthony to be your lawful wedded husband, to love and cherish him in good times and in bad?" the actor asked.

Then, Benard asked for the rings, and an adorable little ring bearer fulfilled his duties! "Can I have the rings, please?" Benard asked, adding wryly, "This may take a while."

After the rings were placed on the fingers of the bride and the groom, Benard concluded the ceremony. "And by the authority vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"

State of Mind is Benard's YouTube talk show in which he talks about mental health issues. The actor recently interviewed former GH co-star Eva LaRue (ex-Natalia) on his show.
