General Hospital star Michael Easton celebrates his birthday

General Hospital fan favorite Michael Easton may not be living in Port Charles any longer, but he's still very much residing in the hearts of GH fans. While Dr. Hamilton Finn is presumably celebrating his sobriety in Seattle, Easton is celebrating his birthday, as today is the day he was born!

Born in Inglewood, California, on February 15, Easton grew up and was educated in both the United States and Ireland. He first came to the attention of daytime fans as Tanner Scofield on Days of our Lives. In Salem, he appeared opposite Shannon Sturges, who played Molly Brinker.

Before coming back to soaps on Port Charles, Easton starred on the syndicated prime time series Two, playing the dual roles of Booth Hubbard and Gus McClain. His other credits include VR.5, 413 Hope Street, Ally McBeal, and The Practice.

Easton’s return to soaps in 2001 came about when Port Charles began telling limited stories as part of its broadcast model. He played the part of Caleb Morley. After that series ended, he took on the part of Detective John McBain on One Life to Live, starting in 2003, which he played until the show’s finale in 2012.

Easton then brought McBain to General Hospital. However, ABC temporarily no longer had the rights to both OLTL and All My Children characters (which the network has since regained), and McBain left town. Easton soon returned to the show as Silas Clay, a role he played until 2015.

In 2016, Easton joined the show as Dr. Hamilton Finn, father of Violet (Jophielle Love). Finn is an infectious disease specialist and epidemiologist. He owned a bearded dragon named Roxy.

Easton scored a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role as Finn in 2018. He last appeared on the show in June 2024 after relapsing following the death of his father, Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison).

Easton wrote the graphic novel "Soul Stealer," which was drawn by artist Christopher Shy. The soap hopper wrote the screenplay for "Daedelus is Deal," which was based on an unfinished script by Jim Morrison ("The Doors"). Easton also has a collection of poetry, titled "Eighteen Straight Whiskeys."

Wed to Ginevra Arabia since 2004, the two are parents to Lilah Bell and Jack Boru.
