General Hospital's Parry Shen celebrates the Britch-slap heard around Port Charles

On General Hospital, Brad Cooper has been pals with his bestie, Britt Westbourne, for many years. Their conversations are more often than not light-hearted, whether they’re critiquing fashion at the Nurses’ Ball or each other’s relationship choices.

That changed in a big way on the Thursday, April 2 episode, when they had a tense conversation in the wake of Jason Morgan being arrested by the WSB. Brad told Britt, “You’re way better off without that guy,” and Britt slapped him in the face.

The moment was a rare one in their friendship, but also a unique one in the career of Brad’s portrayer, Parry Shen. Shen, who has been on GH since 2013, noted that despite all of Brad’s dirty dealings over the years, no character has slapped him before.

As he often does on social media, Shen posts humorous takes on his character and interacts with fans in a joking way, too.

On his Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, Shen shared a clip of the scene and put a caption on the video saying “Britch-Slapped: (verb, past tense). To strike (a person) sharply, typically across the face by Britt Westbourne.”

He captioned the Instagram post, “Great… now I’ve only got ONE contact lens. 🤕 After almost 13 (years), I have finally attained a soap classic milestone - by being slapped! As you can see, @kelly_thiebaud really put her back into this one.”

Dozens of General Hospital fans celebrated the moment.

The Instagram user kendy2001 said, “Congrats on this momentous occasion! So well deserved 🤣🤣 it was a great scene. Glad Brad came around to wanting to help hide a body.”

The fan m.e.grim said what many fans of Brad have no doubt been thinking, “There’s no way I believe no one slapped Brad already lmaoooo.”

Taking one for the team

On X, Shen replied to several fans commenting on the slap.

The user @STEELK1969 noted, “When she half assed apologized for slapping him, he barely registered a reaction…implying he KNOWS he deserved it!” Shen replied, “No – it was only because the slap didn’t mess up his hair.”

The X fan @SunshinePeach9 posted a GIF of Britt’s mother, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), slapping Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), saying, “Like Mutter like Britta.”

On the April 2 episode of General Hospital, Brad got over that slap and agreed to help his bestie after she told him everything that happened on Pier 55 before and after the shooting of WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Britt doesn’t believe Jason shot Cullum, but she doesn’t know who did because she was unconscious, and she told Brad she wants to ID that person so the WSB releases Jason. Of course, she has no idea her surrogate son, Rocco (Finn Carr), was there and shot Cullum to save Jason’s life. She and Brad went to the pier and looked for clues to the shooter’s identity, and Brad tried to convince her to drop the search because Jason would want her to. Will she listen? Will they figure out the truth? It will be an interesting new chapter in the "Bratt" friendship either way.
