General Hospital alumna Vanessa Marcil has suffered a deep, personal loss. And her former leading man in Port Charles, Maurice Benard, wants her to know that he's here for her. The pet was in her life from August 15, 2025, to August 15, 2026. Marcil, who began playing Brenda Barrett on GH in 1992, took to Instagram to express her feelings over her loss. "I’ve lost almost every single being that I’ve ever truly loved," Marcil began her heartfelt post. "Always way too young and always suddenly with no warning. wtf? I feel like I’ll never love again. I haven’t spoken of losing the love of my life recently at just 3 yrs old, that is for another time. "I’m not ready yet, but baby Bronx was healing my broken heart," the actress added. "While I am out of the country, I just received the news that Bronx has left us suddenly and on his 1st bday. This was the first time I didn’t take him with me, as I don’t trust anyone else to give him his heart meds. "Bronx even attended Jo and Anna’s wedding with me in Canada because I wasn’t willing to leave him with anyone," Marcil revealed. "Bronx had a seizure without me there to comfort him, and while I usually don’t share very personal things…. I know so many pet owners & women in the rescue and foster community are feeling the same heartbreak. "Animals are pure love and force us to be in the present with them," she noted. "In the present moment, there is always peace. Depression is being stuck in thoughts of the past & anxiety is worrying about the future. Playing with Bronx while he nudges my cheek and pretend bites me is the happiest I’ve ever felt in my life. "Now he’s gone, and it’s the same feeling over and over again," the fan favorite laments. "All of the loves that I have lost…..Too many to name, yet every one of them lives in my every breath. Bronx, I know you are playing with Frank & Suzanne. The actress received support from other members of her GH family, including Finola Hughes (Anna). "V, I hear you and feel your pain," Val Jean posted. "I, too, have lost most of everyone/animal I’ve ever loved. It’s lonely and defeating at times, but there are still some of us left. I love you deeply, and I miss you. But no matter how long it takes to be together again, because life…you are always in my heart as one of the people I love and still have.
