Blythe Howard isn't just any new attorney on General Hospital. Her character Monet Mitchell is Jordan's sister! "I saw it come through and I was like, 'Oh, my gosh, this is giving Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, and I don’t get those auditions ever,'" Howard said. "It was just a really fun, spicy role, and I couldn’t pass it up.Howard says she hadn't worked in soaps before, but she grew up watching them. Her mom watched all of them, including GH. She was very excited to join the show. The actress found the pace of the production to be accelerated, calling the first day "insane." She recalled being a deer in the headlights. Actors hear different things about what soaps are like, but she found nothing could have prepared her for the shooting schedule at GH. But she thinks it's cool. And how cool it must have been to have scenes with legendary stars Jane Elliot (Tracy) and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis). She calls them icons and says they're amazing at what they do. Howard says she and Harper are developing a bond as they play sisters, and she's looking forward to seeing how it unfolds onscreen. We're still learning who Monet is and what her motives are. While other characters don't know what she's up to, Howard theorizes, "I think [Monet] knows exactly what she’s up to, but everybody else doesn’t. I think that’s pretty fun."Before getting into acting, Howard pursued journalism, and she had an interest in sports -- not theater. She moved to Los Angeles and booked her first commercial after only being in town for a week. She's also coached actors for commercials. The actress says that doing daytime is the hardest thing that she's ever done in her acting career. But she also knows that it's going to be the best thing that's ever happened to her!
