Peter August: GH's Wes Ramsey Wraps Up His Stint as Peter August as Anna Banishes Him from Her Mind

General Hospital has apparently wrapped up Wes Ramsey’s latest return to Port Charles as Anna, played by Finola Hughes, banished Peter August from her mind in today’s episode. Ramsey had reprised his character this summer as some kind of figment of Anna’s unbalanced mind.

When Hughes brought Anna Devane back to Port Charles in July, her loved ones believed that she had conquered her mental illness problems and was of sound mind. In reality, she was haunted by images of Peter August, who was the devil on her shoulder, trying to get her to do all kinds of evil things, like harming Britt (Kelly Thiebaud).

Peter originally died about 4 ½ years ago after a reign of terror that put him at the top of the list when it came to GH villains. Felicia (Kristina Wagner), appropriately, given Peter’s torment of her daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms), took Peter out with a tire iron, ending the villain’s threats and schemes.

Anna urged Felicia and others to wait for the first responders she had summoned while she waited with a dying Peter. Perhaps if paramedics had arrived in time, Peter might have been saved.

However, Peter knew that Anna hadn’t summoned anyone. She was determined to let him die. Anna confirmed to Peter that no help was coming. She showed him a bit of mercy by telling him that no one – not even Peter August – should have to die alone. Plus, Anna wanted to make sure that he was not only dead, but most sincerely dead.

Ramsey has wrapped up his current run now that Anna’s regained her faculties, thanks, in part, to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), who figured out that Britt was in danger from Anna.

It’s always possible Ramsey could reprise the role again should Anna or another character conjure up Peter as a figment of their imagination.

Unlike Anna, Britt never thought Peter was back; she knew he was dead. What Britt doesn’t know is that her other brother, Cassius (Ryan Paevey), is among the living. So while Britt has lost two siblings – Peter and James (also played by Paevey), her brother Cassius is still alive. Check out our story on Paevey addressing a possible return to GH here.
