Loving and The City Alum Alimi Ballard Joins the Cast of General Hospital and The WSB

It looks like Joss on General Hospital is getting a new colleague or even a new boss at the WSB. Actor Alimi Ballard is going to make his GH premiere on Thursday, September 3, as William Baines. A preview for tomorrow's episode shows William and Joss at the WSB office. Ballard is familiar to soap fans for his turn as Frankie Hubbard, Jesse and Angie's son, on Loving.

From Pine Valley to Port Charles

Ballard is playing GH's William Baines, according to TV Insider; 33 years ago, he landed the role of Frankie on Loving. Ballard credits his TV mom, Debbi Morgan (Angie), for teaching him about the business.

The actor's soap opera parents are daytime royalty! Alas, Jesse (Darnell Williams) "died" on AMC when Frankie was just a baby, and he didn't make his miraculous return from the dead until 2008. Williams premiered as Jesse, the nephew of Dr. Frank Grant (John Danelle), who took Jesse in after Jesse's mother died. Morgan premiered in 1982, and soon, Jesse and Angie became a supercouple in Pine Valley, battling numerous obstacles before they were able to make it to the altar.

Ballard segued from Loving to the show's spinoff, The City, and he left that show the following year. His post-daytime credits include Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Numb3rs, Criminal Minds, Queen Sugar, Queen of the South, Law & Order, and The Rookie.

Grey Sloan Memorial to General Hospital

Ballard likely had no problem finding the GH studio, as it tapes on the same lot that the nighttime serial Grey's Anatomy does. In March, Ballard appeared on the series in an episode titled "Get Lucky." He played the character of Brent.

Brent went to the hospital with his brother, Jeremy (Brandon Black), who ran into a glass door while hanging tightly onto a winning $2 million lottery ticket, injuring his face in the process. (Ouch!)

Conflict came to light after it had been revealed that Brent had been financially supporting Jeremy after he had become unemployed. Brent tried taking the ticket. The two men talked it out, and eventually, Brent agreed to back off.

The show's other storylines had tensions rising as Teddy (Kim Raver) and Winston (Anthony Hill) took on a complex procedure, while Kavita (Anita Kalathara) and Ben (Jason George) tried to impress the new plastics attending. Also, Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Link (Chris Carmack) left the babies with a nanny for the first time.
