As suspected, there was more to the fate of Cassius than met the eye on General Hospital. Viewers may not have seen the last of the character, however, there appears to be a significant period being put at the end of his story -- for now.

Ryan Paevey has wrapped up his time at General Hospital as Cassius. It appeared that the character of Cassius, like his late twin, had gone to that great soap in the sky after being shot by baddie Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) on last week's episode.

Despite guest John Oliver (who plays Z) telling Eden McCoy's Josslyn that Cassius was a goner, Cassius popped up alive in today's episode. The character is not out of the woods as Z is holding all the cards in terms of his fate.

"Ryan’s return was always planned as a short-term arc,” executive producer Frank Valentini shared with TV Insider. "He did incredible work, and we loved having him back."

While the writers and the show mapped out a limited run for the late Nathan's twin, don't be surprised if the actor comes back for future episodes. Paevey has said that he had no interest in coming back as a ghost or for brief runs. He got his wish as he got to explore a new character in Cassius. He has more shades of gray to him than Nathan ever did. Reaction to Paevey's performances has been incredibly positive.

"This character is not the strait-laced nice guy, which opens up a whole new slew of activities and things to play with, which sounded like a lot more fun," Paevey said of Cassius.

The actor was "super jazzed" to explore someone new. He called the material "good, soapy goodness," adding that his new persona on GH was "morally ambiguous."

"The door is always open for him to return," says Valentini.

Fans won't have to wait until Cassius returns for them to see Paevey again. The actor has joined GAC (Great American Family) for a new film.

"We are grateful to have Ryan Paevey join the Great American Media family, starring in Christmas in Moose Lake," a rep for GAC announced back in April.

"Ryan brings talented actors Britt Robertson, Kevin Dillon, and Natasha Henstridge for this beautiful holiday story, part of the 6th Annual Great American Christmas, which returns in October to Great American’s platforms."
