By the time Josslyn and Cassius finished tearing through that apartment on General Hospital, it felt reasonable to assume somebody backstage was distributing ice packs and checking for bruises. The fight was rough, messy, and surprisingly physical for daytime TV, but according to Eden McCoy, filming it turned into one of the most fun experiences she’s had on the show.
General Hospital gave Eden McCoy her wildest stunt challenge yet

McCoy spoke to Soap Opera Digest about filming the brutal showdown and did not exactly undersell how intense it became. “That fight was completely insane, but we had so much fun filming it,” she said, calling it “the craziest, most choreographed fight scene” she had ever done. She also praised stunt doubles Matt Mullins and Heather Leah Bonomo, while admitting the whole thing was “brutal for sure.”
Even amid all the violence on the set, McCoy made it clear the production stayed tightly organized. “The whole crew was really into it,” she stated, praising their preparation and ability to help everyone feel comfortable. The actress also had nothing but good things to say about Ryan Paevey, describing him as “awesome to work with” and saying, “We had a blast!”
The rehearsal and filming all happened on the same day, which somehow makes the finished scene even more impressive. McCoy explained that the team gave her plenty of time to practice and get comfortable with the choreography before the cameras rolled. She also admitted she wanted to handle as much of the fight herself as possible because it “looks better and it’s more believable when it’s really me.” That commitment definitely showed onscreen, because Joss spent the entire fight looking like someone running purely on adrenaline.
Ryan Paevey volunteered to get punched in the face

McCoy also revealed that Bonomo helped teach her how to throw punches safely and to work with the knife choreography during the fight. “It was fun for me! I really like learning that stuff,” she said, though she admitted there were still moments better left to the professionals. Specifically, moments involving Joss getting launched into the floor like Port Charles suddenly turned into professional wrestling night.
According to McCoy, the hardest impacts were mostly on the stunt double. “The body slam wasn’t me,” she explained, adding that any time Joss hit the ground particularly hard, Bonomo stepped in. Still, McCoy handled everything before and after those bigger moments herself, which gave the scene that messy, physical realism that made it feel so much rougher than the average soap confrontation.
Then came the detail that genuinely sounded like something said moments before an emergency room visit. McCoy shared that Paevey wanted to do as much of the action himself as possible, and at one point apparently told her, “You can actually punch me in the face for real.” McCoy’s response was a very reasonable “No thanks,” followed by laughter, though she added that he was “very down for the cause.” Somewhere out there, soap stunt coordinators probably just felt their blood pressure spike reading that sentence.
