Who Let the Dogs Out? Behind the scenes at General Hospital's dog day Thanksgiving

General Hospital went to the dogs for Thanksgiving as Emma and Gio finally accomplished the one thing they have been working on for months — rescuing a passel of pooches from Professor Dalton's lab.

Ever since Emma arrived in Port Charles a year ago, she has been determined to prove that Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard) was testing on animals. After several hits and misses, Emma and Gio finally found the dogs Dalton had been testing on in a lab off the PCU campus. They let them out of their cages and brought them back to Gio's Grandpa Sonny's house, and that's where the fun began.

On-screen, Ric (Rick Hearst) was furious that Gio and Emma broke the law, exposing Rocco (Finn Carr) to more criminal liability because he was there when they arrived with the dogs. Off-screen, the cast and crew had a great time with their newest canine castmates.

The official General Hospital social media pages shared hilarious and adorable multiple videos and posts from the set when the actors worked with a variety of dogs in Sonny's living room.

The caption beside a still photo on Instagram read: "Whoever said not to work with kids or animals clearly hasn't wrangled 10 dogs at 8:30 in the morning. 🐶 Is there any chance Sonny adopts all of these good boys and girls? Find out today!"

Who let the dogs out?

In one of the videos, Braedyn Bruner learns which dog she would get to hold. Since this was the dog she was hoping to become new pals with, she was absolutely thrilled with the sweet little pug.

However, when it came time to film, not every dog was cooperative. In fact, one spotted four-legged friend waltzed right out the front door within minutes of walking in. Maurice Benard, who was holding the door, announced to everyone on set, "That dog left."

Giovanni Mazza could only laugh as the actors were told they'd have to do another take. So, they all re-grouped and started all over again.

GH's week also started with dogs, as Outback, the dog Emma and Gio found last summer, nearly ate the Quartermaine turkey that Chase (Josh Swickard) so painstakingly made. Since the dog didn't eat the turkey, the Qs delivered their Thanksgiving feast to the hospital staff.
