Willow (and Nina) Can't Handle The Truth: General Hospital Two Scoops For the Week of August 24th

When this past General Hospital week began, Willow thought she had it all figured out. Always thinking on the fly, she used the perfect opportunity to get leverage against Jack Brennan when he popped into her new-old house on the Q estate. By midweek, she learned that Alexis knew all about what she did last summer. And by Friday, she'd fallen for Chase again...because he is the only one who can't see the truth she doesn't even want to see.

And Nina? Well, Jack said it all, and that might cost Nina more than just Willow in the end...

Let's Start With Natasha and Truth Bomb Number One

Honestly, this was the high point of the week and the reason to tune in. We don't see Natasha often, but when we do, we just want her to stay. Nothing against mild-mannered (relatively speaking) Alexis, but if we can get an equal mix of the two personas, that would be amazing. While some fans wanted to see Natasha do more to Little Miss Priss, this was just what was needed. A swift downfall for Willow won't be any fun. It needs to happen in layers and pieces with a big twist, or why bother?

But anyway, Natasha had been held inside all year, ever since Kai and Trina first came to Alexis and told her that Willow did indeed plug Drew in the back twice last September. Through closing arguments, a verdict, a custody agreement, and sharing Scout for six months, Alexis put on a (relatively) happy face and kept her inner Natasha at bay, but not anymore.

When Natasha told the congresswoman that it was clearly not her turn to speak, we knew what was coming and popped the proverbial popcorn the next day. Surprisingly, Willow even admitted that, yep, she did it, something she refused to do with Michael and Kai when they confronted her. Instead, she denied and then just stopped arguing.

With Alexis, Willow had the nerve to defend herself using the mother card. Yes, Alexis is a mother and Alexis has killed, but she's still not quite as diabolical as Willow, as she actually felt bad about mowing men down with her car. Willow also didn't know how downright ridiculous she sounded, telling Alexis that she would just have to bring down anyone who gets in the way of her keeping her children, her children, her children.

With Willow, it's all for those little possessions of hers. As Natasha said, keep slaying all the monsters, but don't forget yourself. (It's also not lost on us that Alexis was standing in an office that was supposed to be hers had Jenz Sidwell not gotten in the way.)

Truth Bomb Number Two

Willow's first target of the week, Jack Brennan, has her pegged down to the letter. The fandom has been saying it for the last three years. Willow abuses her mother. Nina's obsession with cleaning up this terrible girl's messes will indeed be what does her in one day.

Nina should never doubt what Jack says. That girl gathered her fingerprints to set her up for a major crime against a sitting congresswoman "just in case." And if push comes to shove, she will back that big ol' bus right over her mom to get out of a jam in a second. And if God forbid Nina should die, she'd shed a few crocodile tears, step over the body, and move on.

The truth was so uncomfortable for Nina that she stood up, called her new lover by his last name, and demanded he get Willow what he needs or he'd regret it. Good job, Nina. Carly owns the place...

Shirtless Chase Alert

Speaking of crocodile tears, how amazing was Willow's performance? And was it all a performance? Could Willow have been considering Alexis' words and been realizing that she was indeed one of the monsters she needed to sway? She certainly wasn't going to let Chase know that.

Instead, she poured on the waterworks and allowed him to continually believe she was a sweet, innocent flower (or tree?), being maligned for nothing. And if Chase had been wearing a shirt while Willow was doing this, we would have been stunned. Chase has forgotten how to wear clothing in front of Willow.

And Willow has noticed. If she wasn't planning on going after Chase before, that look in her eyes said she's going for it now. He told her everything she needed to hear, which was the furthest thing from the actual truth, and Willow fell back in love with Chase in an instant. Time to call out the big guns...we mean, Tracy.

And Then There's Drew...

Did you know Drew spent six months blinking in a wheelchair dreaming up ways to get revenge on...Sonny Corinhos? That's right. A man who was once his employer and BFF when he thought he was Jason was now his worst enemy. Also a man he has barely shared scenes with over the last five years.

Make it make sense. Bring down Sonny and bring down everyone? How? Drew really did have way too much time on his hands. Did Willow at least play his favorite TV shows and movies for him so he didn't have to do so much ridiculous thinking?

But first, he has to get his hands on those black box files so he can what? Bring down Nina and Willow? Cause we thought he was just going after Sonny and everyone else would follow. And if Ava just gave Jack a mere generic sleeping pill, then why did he have to have a secret meeting with Marty to get it? We know Drew didn't think this harebrained scheme out well, but did the writers?

Ava's Part

Before we get into Sonny's "backyard" barbecue, we have to touch on the Avery drop-off. (And where was Avery anyway?) "A cancer to cut out of her mother's life?" What?!?! And WHY?!?!? We know that Sonny and Ava have not gotten along over the years and their co-parenting relationship has been contentious to say the least, but why would Sonny say such an absolutely abhorrent thing to the mother of his child when she could have been in earshot?

It was such an unnecessary scene in terms of character development, but apparently also a necessary one so it could serve as the plot point impetus to Ava agreeing to drug a WSB agent, which will invariably end in disaster.

Party Time

So, GH can go outside for softball, to find a pregnant woman on a bench, for jogging scenes, and even for John Oliver, but it can't give Sonny a proper backyard. Just why?

How silly was it watching all these characters lined up on the tiniest patio ever playing cornhole? Dante couldn't even fit, but he squeezed in there anyway. The plot didn't really move, there weren't a lot of fireworks, and nobody's life was changed forever, so what was the point in these silly little scenes?

Does Josslyn need any more acronyms associated with her? In her job as a WSB (World Security Bureau) agent, she is now going to become the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises), which is quite a mouthful.

We're not sure where GH is going with this story or why it's going anywhere, but it is certainly a relief that nobody bought her lie about deciding spy life wasn't for her after all. That would have been annoying to watch for the next half year (at the very least, with the pace that stories move). The jury is still out on this story and out on Hudson, the man who may or may not be Phoebe's father and Josslyn's latest love interest.

Lulu as Ric's dating coach is a stroke of genius, but is this meant to lead somewhere else? And are Elizabeth and Dante supposed to lead somewhere else? We've been doing this since February and it will be September this week. It's time to get a move on.

It was nice to see Anna delivering a truth bomb to Jordan. She essentially told her that Curtis was an idiot, which we knew. After all, we got to see him in jail telling the warden he'd beat other prisoners if he had to. Good job, Curtis. At least we don't think he'll have to pull an Isaiah on Jenz.
