Luigi Mangione has garnered several fans who have been rooting for his release, and recently, one of them planned to break the suspected murderer out of prison with a barbecue fork and a pizza cutter.

On Wednesday evening, A Minnesota man who has been identified as 36-year-old Mark Anderson, arrived at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, claiming he was an FBI Agent who had a court order for the release of Luigi Mangoine. According to law enforcement sources, Anderson couldn't provide a proper identification when he was asked to present his credentials. He provided a Minnesota driver’s license to officials with the Bureau of Prisons and then allegedly threw paperwork at the BOP officers.

After his stunt, prison officials searched his bag and found a barbecue-style fork and a circular steel blade that appeared to be a pizza cutter. Reports say that Mark traveled to New York in search of a job but could only find employment at a pizzeria. Mark Anderson was arrested and charged with impersonating an FBI agent.

Luigi Mangoine was arrested in December 2024 for the suspected murder of Brian Thompson, the former Chief Executive of UnitedHealthcare. He is facing eleven state criminal counts in New York, including first-degree murder and murder as a crime of terrorism. According to reports, if he is found guilty, he would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Luigi Mangione wrote a statement via a website launched by his legal defense team.

Luigi Mangione has since pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting both his federal and state trials.
