An AI animatronic of Disney character Olaf malfunctioned during its unveiling at Disneyland Paris. A video of the same was posted on the X account “@PopBase” on March 30. In the video, the character could be seen doing its act, and then it suddenly fell back, almost as if it fainted. Its carrot-like nose also fell off.

Two people then came and lifted it, but they eventually took it away. Social media users reacted to the situation, as one X user commented:

“Bro melted fr.”

Another social media user jokingly wrote:

“robots need more therapy and less drama tbh.”

One netizen explained:

“Even the most advanced animatronics aren’t immune to technical glitches this is just another reminder that theme park magic runs on very real engineering.”

A second user joked:

“waiting half an hour just to watch a snowman get clipped in broad daylight. top tier core memory for the toddlers tbh.”

In similar lines, one X user wrote that kids might have thought that the character melted for real. They commented:

“Oh no, poor Olaf That’s honestly kind of hilarious and sad at the same time. Imagine just seeing him wobble, then faint right there in front of everyone. Some kid probably thought he melted for real. Hope he gets his snow-packed batteries changed soon.”

A social media user joked:

“Well to be fair to Olaf he’s a walking snowman in a heat and humid climate so no wonder he fainted.”

Who played Olaf’s character in the Frozen franchise?

In Disney’s Frozen franchise, Olaf’s voice is given by actor Josh Gad. Following the release of Frozen 2, Gad sat down with the hosts of The View. He said that he was disappointed because the movie was not nominated for an Oscar. He added:

“People have been working on this film for three years and I know that the fans and the outpouring that we've seen prove that the movie is a worthy follow-up to the original.”

They then played a video of his daughter, who emotionally asked why she can’t be a kid forever. When asked if his children inspired his role in the movie, Gad said:

“I said I would love Olaf to sort of have this existential journey where he's starting to grow, he's starting to mature and he's starting to ask those questions of why can't things always stay the same why do they have to change and I think it you know plays out in the film but it's such a touching moment.”

In 2019, while speaking to ScreenSlam, Gad explained that in Frozen 2, Olaf had become more curious and loved sharing random facts. He said that the character often talked about things that were interesting but not really related, like someone at a party who shares information even when no one asks.
