Blake Lively broke onto the scene as a young actress in CW’s hit show Gossip Girl.

Since the show ended, she has solidified her status as an A-list actress, thanks to her numerous credits in major films, as well as her marriage to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds.

In the latest news about the Another Simple Favor star, she was back in the news on February 11, amid a pre-trial settlement hearing in her legal case against Justin Baldoni. Page Six has reported that while waiting for some clarity on the proceedings from the judge, Lively ordered her chauffeur to pick up an antique mahjong set for her and bring it to the courthouse as a way to divert her attention.

Shortly after the news became public, Perez Hilton took to his blog to comment,

“Is this real life or the most extra episode of courtroom couture we’ve ever witnessed?! Blake Lively apparently decided that if she was going to spend her morning in mediation over her explosive legal battle with Justin Baldoni, she was going to do it her way. And by her way, we mean with a luxury mahjong set delivered straight to the courthouse door. Seriously. You cannot make this stuff up.”

A May 18 trial start date has been set if a settlement cannot be reached beforehand. Blake Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and attempting to damage her reputation during their time filming It Ends With Us, which incidentally served as Baldoni’s directorial debut.

Blake Lively on her love for mahjong, more

Interestingly, Blake Lively opened up about her love for mahjong in a piece published by Vogue Magazine on December 15, 2024. In the article titled Blake Lively’s Guide to Holiday Gifting for Friends, Family, and Ryan, she shared that Mahjong sets from the female-owned Oh My Mahjong were her latest festive season go-to gift.

“I have been teaching friends how to play Mahjong, though I need to say I’m not a certified teacher. But I know enough to teach my friends how to play with me, and in the end, I always end up gifting them my own set because they are obsessed and want to practice.”

She went on to add that she felt very confident about the gift she got for her husband, “I’m not going to say what I got Ryan, but I really nailed it.”

It's unclear what the future holds for the actress, or if a settlement between both parties can be reached before the legal case ultimately goes to trial.
