Whoopi Goldberg is widely regarded as a pioneer for female comics and equally well respected as an actress and television host. Her unapologetic and authentic style has helped her endear herself to her audience over the span of her illustrious career.

In the latest news involving the Sister Act star, Whoopi Goldberg used her platform on The View to share her thoughts on the slaying of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her January 26 address was powerful and reflected a sense of powerlessness echoed by many within her home country:

“They murdered a man. He is standing, he has his phone and he has a bottle of water. And they shot him ten times. What the —. I don’t know what you’re investigating, if you’re not investigating the straight up murder — the straight up murder. This is the second one, the second murder of an American citizen. If you don’t see it, it’s willful. It’s because you’re not looking. You can’t sit by this.”

She went on to say:

“Kristi Noem, you can’t justify this. Mr. Bovino, you can’t justify this. You can’t justify either one, and we all see it and we see you for what you are. You all have blood on your hands.”

It is clear that Whoopi Goldberg, like many of her compatriots, is frustrated and saddened by what is currently transpiring in the United States.

Whoopi Goldberg condemns the current American regime, more

Interestingly, Whoopi Goldberg had even more to say while on the January 26 episode of The View. She seemed adamant about letting her perspective shine through on one of the most relevant platforms on daytime television. She said:

“This government does something that I am not used to saying about a U.S. government.”

Goldberg continued:

“It lies to the citizens, it lies to the people. So, for them, a camera is just as dangerous as a gun. What they don’t want is for people to see the truth.”

Whoopi was also not the only one to speak out on the current situation in the United States. Sara Haines contributed her point of view on the episode as well, contributing the following thoughts:

“The people that seem to be bringing the violence are the ICE agents themselves. I know there are good ICE agents. The problem is they’re currently recruiting people using imagery from single-shooter games, giving them this vibe that they’re coming to get rid of vermin, and they’re also telling them they have immunity.”

As tensions continue to mount within the United States, and celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg continue to stand up and speak out, the hope is that continued activism will eventually lead to tangible change.
