Joseph Edgar Foreman also known as Afroman is an American singer and rapper. He is best known for his 2000 hit Because I Got High, which earned him his only career Grammy nomination.

In the latest news about the Crazy Rap artist, Afroman has testified in court over his use of actual raid surveillance footage in his Lemon Pound Cake music video which released in 2022. As per WCPO News, a Cincinnati based news outlet, Afroman took the stand on March 17 and shared by the raid footage was used in his music videos:

"All of this is their fault. If they hadn't wrongly raided my house, there would be no lawsuit, I would not know their names, they wouldn't be on my home surveillance system, and there would be no songs ... my money would still be intact."

The 51-year-old rapper added:

"They're suing me for their mistake. I have the right to my freedom of speech. After they left, I had the right to kick the can and do what I had to do to repair the damage they brought to my house.”

It is currently unclear what to expect from the verdict, though Afroman is inclined to believing he was well within his rights to include the footage in his videos.

Afroman takes to Instagram

Interestingly, Afroman also took to Instagram to speak out on his current legal situation in light of his day in court. He addressed his followers straight on in a selfie video accompanied by the following caption which captures the essence of his video message:

“I thank God for creating me. I want to thank everybody for the overwhelming support you’ve been giving me”

Afroman added:

“I’m fighting for a free speech. I don’t think police officers should have the privilege of vandalizing your property, disconnecting your cameras, stealing your money, then take you to court and sue you for being a sport, taking it on the chin and singing a little humorous song about them. Thanks for your support. God bless you. God bless America freedom of speech, new album, and Tour”

After his home had been raided, the rapper has resorted to several tactics to sound off on the officers involved. He has posted several clips and videos to Instagram and YouTube, name-dropping the deputies who participated in the sweep of his home, which he has continued to do as recently as earlier this week.
