Tyson "Tenz" Ngo and Kyedae Shymko have announced that they have ended their six-year relationship, confirming through a social media post that they had actually been separated for some time before going public with the news.

The esports and streaming community were all shocked at the announcement, but rumors were already floating when, a month ago, Kydae removed only the engagement post from her Instagram, then later all her posts. She added that she was just rearranging her Instagram in her bio. Even Tenz had taken down the engagement post and was seen alone at gaming events.

Kydae said that both parties had to feel emotionally prepared before deciding to make the announcement public. She clarified in her statement that rather than a sudden or dramatic split, the separation was the consequence of careful consideration of the later phases of their relationship. She wrote:

"Tyson and I feel ready to share some personal news. We've actually been broken up for quite some time now. Toward the end of our relationship, we came to a realization that wasn't easy to accept: we had stopped growing as individuals."

She continued about how entwined their lives had grown over time. The pair spent almost all of their time together, whether it was for business or hobbies, which she claimed made their six-year relationship seem much longer:

"For most of our relationship, we did everything together. Work — together. Hobbies and interests — together. Pretty much everything — together. We've even joked in the past that although we were together for six years, it felt like at least thirty."

She added that after only a few weeks of meeting, the couple moved in together and lived together for most of their formative years, which spanned from their late teens to their early twenties, and felt they needed to grow as individuals in the later part of their lives:

"We moved in together just weeks after meeting, and from ages 17 to 24, that was all we knew. Over time, it became clear that we needed space to grow into our own people."

She finally concluded that they broke up simply because they had grown apart and not because of any wrongdoing, resentment, or any event. She went on to mention that the two still cared for each other and were grateful. Kydae asked their supporters to respect their privacy:

"We know the internet often looks for "the tea" but the truth is simple — we grew apart. There was no wrongdoing, no resentment, and no single event that caused this. We still care deeply about each other and genuinely want the best for one another. We're also incredibly grateful for the time and life we shared together! Thank you for respecting our privacy."

Tenz and Kyedae's long-term relationship and battles

The two who had met in high school soon began dating and developed a relationship while Kyedae's streaming career and TenZ's rise in competitive gaming were going on. The two got engaged in the last months of 2021 or the beginning of 2022 and had kept it a secret. They revealed it only after 8 months.

Tenz, at the time, was becoming a well-known streamer and was competing professionally in Valorant for Cloud9 Blue and then later Sentinels, where he was a part of the team that won their first international event at the VCT 2021 at Reykjavik. Kyedae was always seen supporting and cheering him on, even livestreaming her reactions to the event.

Kyedae was also seen as an up-and-coming streamer at the time. Tenz would also be seen on Kyedae's stream from time to time. They often collaborated or played together.

Then, in 2023, Kyedae Shymko revealed that she was receiving chemotherapy after receiving a cancer diagnosis. TenZ was regularly spotted standing by her side at that time, and the couple's emotional updates to followers increased public appreciation for their relationship.

Shock to fans and reassurance from the couple

Their separation shocked all fans and other streamers. They have stated unequivocally that there is no resentment or negative publicity. Rather, they presented the split as a necessary step on the path to independence and personal development.

The two even joked about it as they went back to their engagement post- announcement to comment on it.

Along with the announcement post, Kyedae even uploaded another photo of the two outdoors, taking their time and drafting the announcement. Showing that the two worked on it together.

She also joked about comments suggesting they used AI.
