Natalie Portman has had a tremendous career as an actress, earning several accolades for her work, including an Academy Award. She has also generally done her part to use her platform for activism when the cause is justified from her perspective.

In the most recent news about the Closer actress, American political commentator Megyn Kelly recently weighed in on Natalie Portman’s recent statements about what’s happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States. Kelly presented a scathing critique of Portman on the January 27 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show.

"We don’t give a sh*t what Natalie Portman thinks or doesn’t think about this. I’m just showing you her fake f*cking tears. I mean, where were her tears for Laken Riley? I don’t remember her tearful video about Jocelyn Nungaray. Did you cry for her? You rich b*tch. Who’s protected by guards and fences and multi-million dollar estates from having to deal with anything."

Kelly went on to add,

"Like what these border patrol agents are going through or these Ice agents are going through in order to protect people who don’t have your money and means and resources. Tell it to Jocelyn Nungaray's mother as you cry while these guys are trying to deport molesters of children, you f*cking idiot know-nothing."

Natalie Portman has not responded to Kelly’s incendiary claims, which have since gone viral.

Natalie Portman's comments at Sundance Film Festival

Natalie Portman was recently at The Sundance Film Festival in Utah to promote The Gallerist, her upcoming film. During a Variety interview on the red carpet, Portman shared her perspective regarding the recent violence in Minneapolis at the hands of ICE agents.

"It’s really impossible not to talk about what is happening right now and the brutality of ICE and how it has to stop immediately. But also, there’s a beautiful community that Americans are showing right now. They’re showing up for each other, protecting each other and fighting for their freedom. It’s a bittersweet moment to celebrate something we’re so proud of on the backdrop of our nation in pain.”

In an interview with Deadline, Natalie Portman called out who she perceived to be the perpetrators behind these unspeakable acts.

"What’s going on in this country right now is absolutely horrific. What the federal government, Trump’s government, Kristi Noem, ICE – what they’re doing is really the worst of the worst of humanity.”

While it’s unclear what effect it will eventually have on the situation, celebrities like Natalie Portman are speaking out in numbers in hopes of causing real, positive change.
