NHL reporter Jessi Pierce passed away in a fire along with her three children in Minnesota. On Saturday, the firefighters responded to a fire in a residential area at a single-family home early in the morning, around 5 am, after neighbors reported seeing fire rising through the roof of the house.

The house was located on the 2100 block of Richard Avenue, and through fire suppression efforts, the firefighters from the White Bear Lake Fire Department were able to locate an adult, three children, and a dog inside. However, at that point, it was too late as they were already dead.

The situation was extremely heartbreaking, as Fire Chief Greg Peterson expressed in a press release,

“Our hearts ache for all those involved in this tragedy. We ask for the opportunity to allow our community to come together and support one another during this difficult time.”

Condolences for Jessi Pierce and her family also flew in from her workplace, NHL.com, where she had been contributing for the past 10 seasons.

The NHL said in a statement, "The entire National Hockey League family sends our prayers and deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jessi Pierce and her three young children. Jessi loved our game and was a valued member of the NHL.com team for a decade. We will miss her terribly.”

While her editor-in-chief, Bill Price, remembered her as a "joy to talk to and work with.”

He said, "The entire NHL.com team is devastated and heartbroken by the loss of Jessi and her children. Jessi’s love of her family and hockey was evident in the energy and passion she brought to her work for us. She will be deeply missed.”

Messages for Jessi Pierce flooded social media as other publications she worked with, peers, and colleagues also shared anecdotes about her and her dedication to her work.
