48 Hours: Case by Case revisits the ongoing Lindsay Clancy murder trial, where the testimony collected from medical experts is presented to the judge inside the courtroom. The podcast also reviews excerpts from her personal journey and visits key locations connected to the night of the killings.

Correspondent Erin Moriarty speaks with WBZ-TV reporter and anchor Kristina Rex to describe the emotional courtroom scenes, the graphic medical details, and the internal turmoil going on in Clancy's mind on January 24, 2023.

On this day, she strangled her three children, Kora, Dawson, and Kaeln, by using exercise resistance bands. Her husband found them in the basement and discovered that her lower part was completely paralysed after jumping from a second‑storey window. Two of the children died that night, and after a few days their youngest passed away.

Testimony from medical professionals was revealed in the 48 Hours: Case by Case

One of the psychiatrists from Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dr. Jill Biwas, revealed her story about treating Lindsay Clancy on today's 48 Hours: Case by Case. She stated that the doctors had encouraged Lindsay to ask questions about her current health status. Then Lindsay asked,

"Is my body broken? Are my legs straight?"

Lindsay is on trial for three counts of first-degree murder, but this is not a case of 'Did she do it? but 'Why?' Her defence argues that the 32-year-old mother should not be held criminally responsible for the deaths of her children by reason of mental disease or defect because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

The information about Lindsay's injuries was collected from her defense attorney, who said that she was treated at Southshore Hospital. The defence attorneys said that the doctors had used rounds of CPR to attempt to revive the children.

Kristina Rex opened up about Lindsay's medical testimony

In 48 Hours: Case by Case, WBZ-TV reporter Kristina Rex mentioned that marks were found on the bodies of Lindsay's three children because of strangulation. She further added,

"Lindsay did sustain serious injuries to her spine. They left her paralysed. She's still paralysed today from the waist down."

Lindsay's defence attorney mentioned that Lindsay made a suicide attempt after strangling her three kids. However, Kristina revealed a secret that the public doesn't know: Lindsay suffered a cardiac arrest within 24hours of the suicide attempt.

The prosecution also presented some graphic pictures of Lindsay's injured neck and wrist. The WBZ-TV reporter also revealed that Clancy's suicide attempt was overdramatised.

The medical testimony presented by the prosecutors further revealed that the cuts Lindsay made to herself were superficial, implying that she didn't cut deep enough to actually kill herself.

The defence then started questioning the doctor's full recollection of Lindsay's injuries. The prosecutors, in turn, said that Lindsay may have hung or leant from the second-storey window rather than actually jumping out of it. As a result, she broke her spine and ultimately paralysed her lower section below her waist.
