Mark Harmon, an American actor, producer, writer, former football player, and director, is best known for portraying Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS. The series will return with new episodes on March 3, 2026, exclusively on Paramount+. Mark is also famous for playing the lead cast as Jack McNeil along with Christine Lahti, Adam Arkin and Rocky Carroll in Chicago Hope series.

Apart from both these series, he was part of the main cast in Reasonable Doubts. There, he played Detective Dicky Cobb, who works with a hearing-impaired prosecutor. The character of the prosecutor was played by Marlee Matlin. In Flamingo Road, he played the lead role of Fielding Carlyle and in St. Elsewhere he portrayed Dr. Robert Caldwell. Harmon appeared as Freddy Shoop and Jay Austin in Summer School and The Presidio respectively.

In this film, Mark Harmon played the role of Freddy Shoop, an apathetic gym teacher. He plays Freddy Shoop, a laid-back physical education teacher forced to teach remedial English during the summer. Phil Gills the vice principal of the school forced Freddy to conduct the summer classes. The movie was produced by Paramount Pictures.


The Presidio

It is an American crime-action thriller movie starring Mark Harmon as Jay Austin. The scene where Cadwell asks Austin to delay his police report by forty-eight hours and give him a time to bury Maclure with his honor intact has captivated the audience. Jay's dialogue to Cadwell:

"How attracted you are to me. You'll have him climbing the walls. Then later, when he gets you alone, he's gonna tell you what a jerk I am, and he's gonna order you to stay away from me."

The dialogue and the scene related to it is famous among the fans of Harmon.


Reasonable Doubts

In Reasonable Doubts, Mark Harmon appeared as Detective Dicky Cobb. Cobb is one of the few officers on the force who knows ASL or 'American Sign Language.' It is a two-season drama created by Robert Singer.

The show was broadcast in America by NBC. Cobb is an old-fashioned cop who usually becomes more frustrated by Tess' sympathy for the suspects than by her deafness.


Chicago Hope

It is a medical TV drama from America which stars Mark Harmon as Jack McNeil. He remained on the show until 2000. The series a total of 141 episodes. You can watch the episode on services like Google Play or Apple TV.

Harmon joined the series as a skilled orthopedic surgeon in season 3 and remained until 2000. He was recruited to the hospital from Wyoming by Dr. Philip Watters.

Mark Harmon's portrayal of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS made him famous among the audience. Gibbs is a highly skilled and a stoic leader of the Major Case Response Team. He is a retired Gunnery Sergeant and a specialist in sniper.
