What does A Friend, A Murderer investigate?

The official synopsis of the documentary series reads:
"In this documentary, three friends recount their memories of a series of crimes that changed their lives and rocked their quiet corner of rural Denmark."
A Friend, A Murderer follows an investigation in a small Danish town, where the suspect was finally arrested after eight years. During that time, the arrested person carried out many serious crimes, including kidnappings, murders, and assaults.
In the series, three friends named Amanda, Kiri, and Nichlas share their personal experiences and reveal how they later discovered that the person they partied and spent time with was the same individual the authorities had been searching for all those years.
In a clip from the limited series shared by Netflix, a person is seen watching others from a distance, followed by a friend saying,
"When I think back through all those memories and experiences that I have from that time, it's absolutely surreal to think that the man I've been fearing the most out there was right next to me."
Another clip from the true crime docuseries shows friends at a party wearing clown eye masks, possibly showing how close they were to the accused at that time, without having any idea about their crimes.
Another former friend, Amanda, said in a reported statement released by Netflix:
"For years, I feared the perpetrator was still out there and that I could be the next victim. When I realised it was one of my closest friends, my world shattered. I’ve come to realize that even the people you trust the most can hide a dark side, and that feeling safe isn’t something you can always take for granted."
The series is also expected to look at how the case was solved, along with the clues that may have led to the arrest, and could possibly include moments from the trial to show what happened in court.
