While talking to Radio Times, Claffey, who plays Dunk in the GOT prequel, shared that the revelation of Egg's real identity at the end of Episode 3 was a shocking betrayal for Dunk.To add to his previous comment, he further stated:"While being sort of in awe of him, and sort of like, 'Oh, my god, he saved my life,' there's just complete betrayal there, because he knew exactly how dangerous it would be for Dunk to be seen bringing him around as a squire, or potentially giving him a clout in the ear, or asking him to do all these different things when he's a prince of the realm. So I think it's just betrayal."In the episode, Dunk gets in a fight with Aerion after he and his men destroy the place right after Tanselle's puppet show, where they showed the slaying of a dragon. As Aerion tries to harm Tanselle, Dunk arrives just in time and begins to beat up Aerion, which causes him to be captured by his men.To save him from his eventual demise, Egg had to come to the hedge knight's rescue, and everyone learns that Egg is actually Aerion's younger brother and son of Maeker Targaryen. Claffey also talked about how this was the same episode where Dunk says some harsh things about the Targaryens and praised showrunner Ira Parker for the writing of the big reveal. He said:"It's a shock realisation of what's going on, and the way that Ira [Parker, showrunner] wrote it - he's having a conversation with Raymun just before about Makear's kids and how much of a disaster they all are, and the way it's built up like, 'And the youngest!' It's so well done."Don't forget to tune into HBO Max on February 6, 2026, to watch Episode 4 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will further depict the aftermath of Egg's identity revelation.
