The tournament organizer has an offer to the hedge knight: Dunk's opponent is ready to throw in the fight so that his father can win a bet, but Ser Duncan the Tall refuses this offer, choosing to contest in the tourney honestly.Then, the two visit the jousting venue as the audience. The knights at the center of this jousting are Egg's brother, Aerion Targaryen, and Ser Humfrey Hardyng. Aerion cheats the first time by deliberately ducking the knight's attack, and the second time, he stabs the horse, causing it to fall on Hardyng. On the way to Ser Lyonel Baratheon's tent, Dunk and Egg meet a fortune teller who tells Egg that the young boy will be a king one day, but he will die horribly, a fate already known to the fans.Then, at Lyonel's tent, Egg tells Dunk that he will attend Tanselle's puppet play and then get his shield. But things take a dark turn as Aerion is personally offended by the death of the puppet dragon, even if the play is about a legend older than Targaryen came to Westeros.
