A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms debuted with its first season on January 18, 2026. The HBO Game of Thrones spin-off is already moving ahead at a promising speed.
Recently, in an interview with Esquire, showrunner Ira Parker spoke about the development of the second season and said that they have been involved in the filming "every day for the last two days".
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 has an exciting update
The fans now have a reason to be happy as the production update signals fast movement and consistent effort in filming. Coming directly from Ira Parker, the update ignites hope for a fast return.

The update comes as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms brings a subtle shift in tone within the Thrones universe. This time, the chapter avoids sprawling political intrigue and large-scale spectacle in favour of a more contained narrative.
Based on George R. R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, Dunk, played by Peter Claffey, and his witty companion Egg. Speaking to Esquire, Parker also commented on the tone of the return. He mentioned how he wanted the show to feel different from its predecessors.
This season focuses not on sticking to the Westeros' grand scale, courtly drama that defined previous shows. This chapter captures Parker's inclination toward comedy and grounded storytelling.
As the production update comes, the tonality also matters for long-time followers of Martin's lore.
Parker mentioned that the character, like Tyrion Lannister drawn him to the world of Game of Thrones. He was drawn to the sharp wit amid brutal, political circumstances.
Parker’s has handled co-executive producer duties for multiple projects, starting with House of the Dragon, as well as The Sympathizer and Better Things. He did not actively scout the role for HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Instead, his involvement with the show began after an early morning phone call from the platform.
Season 1 of the show had an ensemble cast.
Main Cast
- Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk)
- Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg (Aegon Targaryen)

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' smaller scope has shaped both its production and its storytelling. With Dunk serving as the sole point-of-view character, the series avoids cutting between multiple storylines.
Although Season 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms still has episodes left to air, HBO has already renewed the series for a second season. The other novellas are yet to be adapted. Parker remains hopeful that for the season, the audience will relate to Dunk’s journey.
For now, filming continues. As Parker told Esquire, the future beyond Season 2 will ultimately depend on how viewers respond, but his enthusiasm for the characters and stories is already clear.
Season 2 is expected to be released in 2027. Season 1 is streaming on HBO.
