Fans of ABC TV shows have got a new update! The broadcasting company has officially announced its Fall 2026 premiere schedule. It has now become the latest major US broadcast network to map out its autumn television lineup after NBC, Fox, and CBS.
The newly released calendar reveals when viewers can expect a mix of returning favorites across scripted dramas. Also including comedy shows, reality competitions, game shows and even live sports. The premieres of the shows will be rolling out from late August through the middle of October.
One of the biggest highlights of the update is the return of Dancing With the Stars, which launches the entertainment slate in September. It's followed by other popular shows like new seasons of Scrubs, Shark Tank, Abbott Elementary, 9-1-1 and Grey's Anatomy.
Not only this, but the schedule has also confirmed that long-running programs such as 20/20, America's Funniest Home Videos and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune are also coming back.
ABC has revealed the release dates for several flagship series this autumn. But the network is taking a staggered approach to the rest of its scripted slate. Some of the shows are held back for midseason, which means fans will get them in 2027.

ABC's Fall 2026 schedule begins with reality shows, sitcoms and returning favourites
ABC is all set for its Fall 2026 season with a blend of live sports and entertainment. The network's rollout starts in late August with college football before shifting to Monday Night Football in mid-September.
The entertainment lineup gets underway on September 15, when Dancing With the Stars returns for its 35th season. Rather than limiting the launch to one evening, ABC is giving the competition a special two-night opening, with a second episode airing the following night.
After the first premiere, viewers can also catch the return of R.J. Decker, which begins its second season. As September continues, the network will offer familiar favorites from across its unscripted slate. 20/20 returns on September 25 with a new season, while America's Funniest Home Videos follows two days later with a two-episode premiere on September 27.
That same evening, The Wonderful World of Disney makes its comeback by bringing Inside Out 2 to broadcast television for the first time. The network closes out the month with another busy night of premieres on September 30 as both the revived Scrubs and Shark Tank begin their latest seasons with two back-to-back episodes.
This way, fans of these hit shows will get a chance to enjoy an extended look. The early autumn schedule continues into October with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, which launches its seventh season on October 2.
ABC rounds out the fall with Thursday dramas while saving several series for midseason
ABC's regular Wednesday TV schedule will begin on Wednesday, October 7. The comedy TV show Scrubs will have a special two-episode premiere, but October 7 is when it starts airing in its normal weekly time slot.
The night (Oct. 7) also marks the return of Abbott Elementary for Season 6, while Who Wants to Be a Millionaire airs between the hit comedy and a new episode of Shark Tank. The network's biggest scripted drama block follows a week later.
On October 15, ABC brings back 9-1-1 for its milestone 10th season, with 9-1-1: Nashville returning for season 2 immediately afterwards. The evening concludes with Grey's Anatomy Season 23, completing the network's Thursday primetime lineup.
Although many shows will already be on air by mid-October, the network is not releasing every scripted series during the fall. Instead, it is saving some for midseason, which usually means the period after the fall schedule, around early 2027. These include High Potential, Shifting Gears, The Rookie, and Will Trent.
Looking even further ahead, the network has confirmed that The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, and Celebrity Jeopardy! will all return with new seasons sometime in 2027. However, specific premiere dates for these three shows have not been announced yet.
ABC is also offering two brand-new series during that midseason period: The Rookie: North and a new Grey's Anatomy spin-off set in Texas.
