Dolly Alderton's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is going to arrive on Netflix in 2026, and it is an understatement to say that fans are eagerly waiting for it. While fans are excited to see the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy being told through a series, they are also eager to see if it respects the source material.The source material being Jane Austen's Price and Prejudice, the show will be judged meticulously when it comes out. Anne Mensah, vice president of content at Netflix UK, has recently said that she thinks the adaptation is going classic. According to Anne Mensah, the adaptation is taking the classic route. Speaking to RadioTimes at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2026, Mensah talked about the upcoming series, saying,"I'm in a sort of campaign against the word 'bold' because I think it's overused. But actually, [the new adaptation] is really interesting; the turn of the wheel we're doing there is, weirdly, to be traditional."Thus, instead of reinventing the story, Netflix's new adaptation is staying close to the original version. While we will see a new approach to the story, it will not have drastic changes compared to what we're used to. Mensah also added that she thinks the adaptation is good enough to be on the same rank as Bridgerton, one of the most watched and successful shows on Netflix. Pride and Prejudice will star Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, and Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet. The other Bennet sisters, Jane, Mary, Catherine, and Lydia, will be played by Freya Mavor, Hopey Parish, Hollie Avery, and Rhea Norwood, respectively. The cast also includes Daryl McCormack as Mr. Charles Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. George Wickham, Jasmine Blackborow as Charlotte Lucas, Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and Justin Edwards as Sir William Lucas, among others. The show is written by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn. The show is executive produced by Alderton, Emma Corrin, Lyn, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter.
