Avatar: Seven Havens premiere recap - Captain Karthik trains Pavi and Nisha to become Avatars

Avatar: Seven Havens is an animated fantasy action TV series about a 9-year-old Earthbender named Pavi, who believed herself to be the new Avatar after Korra. Pavi was hunted by human and spirit enemies and was feared as a destroyer instead of being seen as a savior. She and her long-lost twin sister Nisha uncovered their mysterious origins and fought to protect the Seven Havens, which were the central pillars of civilization that emerged from a shattered world.

Avatar: Seven Havens premiere revealed that Pavi and Nisha were the first Avatar pair and introduced fresh ideas and new world-building to the Last Airbender universe. The timeline featured completely new characters, yet some familiar figures still appeared within the first three episodes.

We also get to witness Korra's Cataclysm that almost destroyed the world, but survivors built new havens like the Element Nations from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Each haven included all types of benders and ordinary citizens without powers. Every bender had to register with the Element Bending Brigade, which defended the haven against the Harshlands and other dangers.

The back story of the formation of Seven Havens

The first episode, On the Horizon, revealed how the Seven Havens were formed. The scene was shown through a stage play at the Ellora Festival. On the Horizon began with Pavi traveling along the edges of Ellora to prepare for a festival. She followed a clever girl who used the beetle family to make jewellery and sold it at the festival. When Pavi freed the beetles, chaos broke out, and Jae noticed her earthbending.

Jae became eager to recruit Pavi after seeing her earthbending. But Pavi escaped toward the Harshlands when the tornado approached, and Jae followed her. There, Jae discovered that she could also airbend, which made her a possible Avatar.

Jae then took her to the Brigade headquarters and showed her powers to Captain Karthik. The Brigade had already found an Avatar in Nisha. When Pavi and Nisha met, they began to sense fragments of shared memories from their childhood, but their full past remained unrevealed.

Captain Karthik decide to train Pavi and Nisha

In Avatar: Seven Havens, Captain Karthik decided not to reveal the powers of Pavi or Nisha immediately and planned to train them first. He also persuaded Jae that the Avatars were not always harmful and shared with him a short history of past Avatars.

Soon after, the Red Element attacked Ellora and the sisters. The Red Element had not been explained clearly yet, but it appeared that it was linked to the Spirit World shown in The Legend of Korra. Its presence also stirred faint memories in Pavi and Nisha, including a song their mother once sang to them.

Jae join Captain Karthik to train Nisha and Pavi

Until episode three, The Order, only Ellora was shown, where the people rejected the Avatars completely. The memory of the Cataclysm made people fearful of another Avatar appearing, and they openly despised the idea. Korra herself was treated as an enemy, and this approach felt like the creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, wanted to respond directly to fans who criticized The Legend of Korra and settle the argument once and for all.

Episode three revealed that Karthik belonged to the Order, which is now protecting the Avatar. Jae then accidentally discovered the Order and joined them to help train Pavi and Nisha. Karthik was promoted to Brigade Commander after the previous leader was harmed by the Red Element attack. He advised Ellora to contact other havens for more benders.

When Pavi and Nisha agreed to get training, they asked Karthik for a favor. They believed that their parents might still be alive and requested the Order's help to find them. Karthik accepted their request and assigned Jae to train the sisters.

The final scene showed three masked warriors planning to infiltrate Ellora. So now it's a waiting game till their real identities are revealed.
