Robert Aramayo is having his moment at the BAFTA Awards 2026. The actor won the Rising Star Award, voted by the public, along with winning an award in the leading actor category for the biographical drama titled I Swear.
While accepting the Leading Actor award at the BAFTA Awards 2026, Robert said:
"I absolutely can't believe this, that I'm looking at people like you and I'm in the same category as you. Never mind that I'm still here. Wow, oh my word. Right, I want to get this right."
Robert Aramayo continued by thanking Kirk Jones, Lauren Evans, and other members of the team, adding that he still can't believe he has won the award. Other nominations in the category included Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Jesse Plemons.
Directed and written by Kirk Jones, I Swear revolves around the story of John Davidson, a character played by Robert, who is suffering from Tourette's syndrome. This made him feel left out among other kids, and not many people understood his condition.
It has earned over eight-star ratings on IMDb and has since then been nominated for many awards.
Robert Aramayo credits Ethan Hawke in his BAFTA Awards 2026 speech

In his acceptance speech, Robert Aramayo also mentioned Ethan Hawke, who was nominated in the same category for his musical drama Blue Moon. Robert said:
"When I was in school, Ethan Hawke came in to speak to us at Juilliard, and then he gave an amazing talk on longevity as an actor, about protecting your instrument and avoiding self-destructive behaviors. And it had a really great impact on everyone in that room. So to be in this category with you tonight is incredible. Thank you, Ethan."
Hawke, who was present at the event, seemed emotional after Robert showed his admiration towards him.
Along with winning in the leading actor category, Robert also won in the rising star category at the BAFTA Awards 2026. While accepting the award, he joked that he hopes he doesn't drop it this time as he did before. Thanking his family for the support, he added:
"My actual family, who support me all the time, who are amazing. I can see my dad up there now and my mom and my sister. And my amazing partner. I love you all so much."
Robert Aramayo went on to say that John Davidson is the most remarkable man he has ever met. He added that the film tells the story of people living with Tourette's syndrome and focuses on their real-life experiences, and they deserve more support and understanding from everyone.
Along with Robert Aramayo, the BAFTA Awards 2026 nominations for the Rising Star Award included Miles Caton, Chase Infiniti, Archie Madekwe, and Posy Sterling.
