Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 returns to Prime Video in twenty-four hours. For those who don't know, the animated series is brought to you by Matt Reeves, J. J. Abrams, and Bruce Timm. Of these names, Bruce Timm's is the most important, as he was involved in the iconic show, Batman: The Animated Series.

The first trailer for the Prime Video animated series dropped last month and teased the introduction of iconic Batman villains like Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, and The Joker. It should be noted that the season 1 finale ended with the revelation of The Joker, and now in the trailer we see the Clown Prince of Crime interact with The Dark Knight in Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2.

What happens in the Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 trailer?

It seems that gang war has escalated greatly since the Caped Crusader Season 1 finale. We see crime getting more and more violent, ranging from the usual bank robberies to murders. Adding to Gotham's woes are the arrivals of costumed criminals like The Riddler, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, and Roxy Rocket.

It is clear from the trailer that we might be getting the Joker and Harley Quinn teaming up in Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2. Caped Crusader Season 1 shook up the Batman lore by having psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel take the mantle of Harley Quinn even before crossing paths with the Joker.

Quinzel was created for Batman: The Animated Series as The Joker's psychiatrist. In that continuity, he influenced her to become his sidekick and even romantic partner. The comics (which folded Harley Quinn into its continuity) and 2016's Suicide Squad also followed Batman: The Animated Series' storyline.

But Batman: Caped Crusader seems to be going for a different route with this specific story, as the Joker and Harley are not going to team up until the second season. Thus, we don't know how this iteration of the Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn would be different from their previous versions.

Apart from that, the trailer also teased a romance between The Riddler and Poison Ivy. It seems that Edward Nygma is going to be a major threat in season 2, as we see him in a crime spree throughout the entire trailer. But the footage culminates with Batman investigating a murder scene when he gets a call on the landline phone. The voice on the other end belongs to the Joker.
