The CW fantasy series Supernatural came out in 2005 and ruled television for more than a decade until it wrapped up in 2020. The series, which remains a classic and beloved, follows the two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, whose journey begins with the search for their father but becomes something more as they rid the world of supernatural beings along the way.Supernatural was created by renowned writer and producer Eric Kripke, who has also given us several other acclaimed shows, such as Prime Video's The Boys, Timeless, and more. However, many people might not be aware that before creating the fan-favorite supernatural series, Kripke was also listed as the co-creator of a Tarzan series, which many have forgotten about.More on this in our story.Supernatural creator Eric Kripke is also the creator of a series called Tarzan for The WB View this post on Instagram Instagram PostSupernatural ran for 15 long Seasons with the 22-episode format, which is a rarity now, and made Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki household names. Along with the different stories shown in The CW series, it was also the chemistry between Padalecki and Ackles that made the show even bigger, which fans still miss wholeheartedly.Kripke, who is known to give us stories that keep us hooked to the screens, makes it hard to believe gave us another show that hardly anyone remembers. One of the reasons might be that the series is not available to stream anywhere as of now. The Tarzan series was created by Kripke along with Michael Colleary and Mike Werb. It premiered on October 5, 2003, and was cancelled after just eight episodes in November 2003.The series is a modern-day adaptation of Tarzan and takes place in New York. It follows the story of detective Jane Porter, who runs into John Clayton, who calls himself Tarzan and has lived 20 years in the African forests, and is brought into the city by his uncle, who kept him hidden from everyone. However, he later gets a chance to escape and begins to wander around the city, helping people. As he gets acquainted with Jane, he also begins to help her to solve various investigative cases. Apart from the Supernatural creator being one of the co-creators, Tarzan also had a star-studded ensemble cast, which included stars such as Vikings star, Travis Fimmel, as the titular character, Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester, The Walking Dead and Prison Break fame Sarah Wayne Callies, and The Family Business star Miguel A. Núñez Jr., among several others.Even with a well-known cast, the series is not popular, and Eric Kripke has no problem with that. In a 2008 LiveJournal interview, the popular writer called Tarzan a "piece of cr*p" but also highlighted that doing the show also allowed him to create Supernatural for The WB. When asked about how he ended up creating the fantasy series for The WB, he stated:"I had adapted another show for the WB, a piece of crap called Tarzan. Here're my feelings on Tarzan: I'll stand behind the pilot. It has a beginning, middle, and - the problem - it ends."He further talked about how he just wanted to produce a show and came up with the story of Tarzan, and further added:"Tarzan was a hell ride in every way, and we only did eight before they wisely put us out of our misery. But I think Warner Bros. appreciated that I stood proudly on the deck of the Titanic with my violin and just played away."Therefore, while the show did not do well, it still marks the beginning of Kripke and Warner Bros.' relationship that gave us Supernatural, which is considered one of the best shows of the mid-2000s.Keep reading Soap Central for more such stories. Also Read: Is Supernatural coming back for Season 16?
