CBS has confirmed that Big Brother Season 28 will premiere on July 9 with a special 90-minute episode on YouTube. The episode will be available to stream the next day on Paramount+.

The reality show will mark a major milestone because it will reach 1000 original episodes. The show is based on the Dutch show of the same name, created by Ron Diesel and John de Mol Junior.

The show places contestants in a camera-filled house with no outside contact. Each week, the show begins with a head of household competition and grants immunity and power to nominate three players for eviction. During eviction, one nominee escapes through the Blockbuster competition, while the remaining two face a house vote. The evicted players join the Jury and later select the winner from the final two. Viewers who vote for America's favorite houseguest get an extra $50,000 prize.

CBS mentioned that the live feeds for Big Brother 28 will drop on Paramount+ and Pluto this Friday at 9 p.m. ET right after the premiere of Big Brother: Unlocked. However, CBS has a plan to bring a new twist. The production will also stream limited live footage on YouTube after airing the episode.

This means that those who are not subscribed to Paramount+ can still watch some of the house activity throughout this summer on the official YouTube channel.

The press release does not specify how much content will be available, but Pluto and Paramount+ will continue to provide full 24/7 live feeds.

The production will reveal the names of the cast on July 7 at noon ET in a livestream called Big Brother: Broveal. In this event, host Chen Moonves will present the Time Trip-themed house activities and introduce viewers to the new houseguests.

Chen Moonves gave a strong hint to Entertainment Weekly that the lineup will not only feature returning contestants but also bring back reality stars from other shows. He indicated that fans of the biggest reality shows can expect satisfaction from the upcoming premiere.

The competition is popular for calling back familiar faces in premieres. For instance, Survivor's Cirie Fields appeared in Season 25, and Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly joined last year in Season 27.

Janelle sparks buzz over cast silence

On June 29, former player Janelle Pierzina opened up that she could not reach Angela Murray because her messages were undelivered. Consequently, Janelle and many fans wondered whether season 26's houseguest was already in mandatory sequester for the new season.

Her post was taken seriously because, the year before, she was the first to suggest that Rachel Reilly might join season 27 after noticing she was unreachable by phone. Later, that prediction came true.

Stay tuned for what happens next.
