Netflix has some good news to share with fans of fun, character-driven programs: Dan Levy is coming back with a new series, titled Big Mistakes. Following the massive success of Schitt's Creek, Levy is introducing a new comedy that blends family drama with crime but in a hilarious and unpredictable manner. Netflix has affirmed that the show will be dropped in 2026.

The news was published via Netflix’s Tudum, and it contained information regarding the cast and a hint about the plot. Big Mistakes does not have a trailer or an exact launch date yet, but fans are already eager to see what Levy's next project is going to be. Comprising both familiar and new actors, Big Mistakes is set to become a good addition to Netflix's comedy shows this year.

The cast and crew behind Big Mistakes

The cast of Big Mistakes will thrill fans. It follows the story of two siblings, Nicky and Morgan, played by Dan Levy and Taylor Ortega, respectively, who get into absurd circumstances they are not prepared to deal with. Trouble follows everywhere they go.

Laurie Metcalf will play the role of their mother, Linda, and provide depth and humor to the character. The other cast members are Jack Innanen, Boran Kuzum, Abby Quinn, Elizabeth Perkins, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara, and Mark Ivanir.

The cast with experienced actors and fresh faces seems to be full of energy and good chemistry. The combination of family melodrama and crime-related anarchy is promising to not lack in laughs. In an early statement on the project, Dan Levy had stated:

"I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix. Thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone."

Besides creating, executive producing, and starring in the show, Dan Levy will also be serving as the showrunner. Rachel Sennott is the co-creator and executive producer behind the series, along with Anne-Marie McGintee for Not A Real Production Company.

What to expect

This is not going to be an ordinary family comedy. It combines the humor of Dan Levy with some element of organized crime that puts a new spin on both genres. It is the tale of two extremely inept and unworthy siblings who are blackmailed to deal with criminals. The result is clumsy moments, weird turns, and numerous humorous errors.

Dan Levy is the showrunner and executive producer; thus, his celebrated style, which we popularly witnessed in Schitt's Creek, will be present in the show. Although the entire narrative is still undisclosed, it is sure to bring pure chaos, family drama, and dumb criminal antics, with heart and humor, to the screen.

The release date of the show is not specified yet, but Netflix intends to release it in 2026. There will surely be some more updates and a trailer soon. Big Mistakes may be a pleasant series to watch, provided that you like smart comedy and unusual circumstances.
