Born Guilty: The Marvels’ Park Seo-joon is set to star in Disney+’s upcoming crime-action noir K-drama - here’s everything we know so far

The Marvels star, Park Seo-joon, is set to return with a new crime action K-drama for Disney+. The noir K-drama Born Guilty is being adapted from a webtoon written by Imugi.

Along with Park Seo-joon, Born Guilty will also star Jo Hye-joo and Uhm Tae-goo in significant roles. According to Soompi, the Disney+ K-drama is expected to release in 2027.

Born Guilty: Everything we know so far about the upcoming Park Seo-joon K-drama

The upcoming Disney+ K-drama will be set in 1980s South Korea. According to AsianWiki, the synopsis of Born Guilty reads as:

"In a lawless city in the 1980's, where redevelopment fever is raging ahead of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, villain Paengi (Park Seo-jun) suddenly appears in the area. He plunges into the illegal drug business, dragging Ssaengdak (Um Tae-goo) and Bok-Hee (Cho Hye-joo) into a cauldron of chaos."

As stated, Park Seo-joon will play the character of Paengi, the villain and drug lord who will bring chaos into the lives of Ssaengdak and Bok-hee after he forces them to join hands in the illegal business.

Seo-joon is a popular name in the South Korean Entertainment industry and globally due to him appearing in The Marvels and a cameo role in the Oscar-winning film Parasite. His popular K-dramas include What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Gyeongseong Creature, Itaewon Class, and, most recently, Surely Tomorrow.

According to Soompi, for his role in Born Guilty, the actor shared:

"It’s both a character and a story I’ve been waiting for. As an actor, it’s a project I can’t help but want. I think I can show a new side of myself through the role of Paengi."

Apart from Seo-joon, the upcoming K-drama will also star Uhm Tae-goo in a crucial role as Ssaengdak, a member of the North Gang, who is abandoned by his gang and has to join hands with Seo-joon's character Paengi. The actor revealed that he was "nervous" and at the same time "excited" to appear in the K-drama and stated:

"It’s a project with a wide range of characters, and the script is fun. I feel both nervous and excited, but I will do my best during filming."

Tae-goo is known for his roles in K-dramas such as Light Shop, My Sweet Mobster, and Save Me 2.

Along with them, Born Guilty will also star Cho Hye-joo playing the role of Bok-hee, Paengi's first love and now a drug supplier. As per Soompi, the actress shared that it was the "compelling" script that impressed her and made her want to be part of the K-drama. She stated:

"I was impressed by the historical setting and the unique circumstances and motivations of the characters. It’s such a compelling project that I wanted to join as soon as I read the script."

The 30-year-old Korean actress has also appeared in K-dramas, including Search: WWW, My Demon, and Reborn Rich.
