Boston Blue Episode 13 recap: Community outreach day turns into a targeted shootingA community outreach day turns into a planned attackIn Episode 13 of Boston Blue, the shooting takes place during a church outreach event, an event supposed to bring people together and offer support to one another. View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIt happened on a street that was filled with people trying to do better and feel a sense of community, including those recently out of prison or looking for a way out of trouble. Two people are shot because of the attack. Pastor Curry gets shot in the arm, while Reverend Edwin Peters is shot in his chest. Now, the Reverend is a very respected fellow in the community, and he's also Mae's father.Lena comes in with first aid right there at the scene of the crime, and the Reverend survives because of how quickly Lena acts. From the start, this does not look like a random drive-by. The positioning, the timing, and the location all suggest proper intent. Someone chose that outreach event in Episode 13 of Boston Blue on purpose. What makes it even worse is Lena’s reaction. Out of everyone involved, she is visibly shaken. Now, as a character, she is usually pretty steady, but this time around, the situation gets to her.The case in Episode 13 of Boston Blue then shifts from “what just happened” to “who was meant to be hit.” And it is this question that drives the rest of the episode forward.Danny and Lena uncover a personal targetAs Danny and Lena start putting the pieces together, the shooting starts to look less random and more like a proper setup. The question becomes simple. Who was the real target? Reverend Peters or Pastor Curry? Now in Episode 13 of Boston Blue, Pastor Curry does something suspicious almost immediately. Instead of resting after being shot, he checks himself out of the hospital, and he tries to disappear, which raises red flags. Then, it is revealed that Pastor Curry is not even his real name! He is actually Larry Johnson, someone with a past criminal history and an active connection to law enforcement outside of Boston. The weapon that was also used in the shooting connects back to Franklin Beaumont, a man who was recently released after serving a long sentence for robbery. Now, Henry's (who is in town for a visit) experience helps connect the dots faster than usual. He points out that a man like Beaumont would not act alone. He would need help, and if that help failed him or betrayed him, revenge becomes a very strong motive. So now, again, it is not just about who got shot, but it is about unfinished business from years ago.Everything starts circling back to Curry’s past and the life he tried to leave behind. The more Danny and Lena dig, the clearer it becomes that this was not about the church at all.A hidden family truth fuels the real conflictThe very idea of Episode 13 of Boston Blue is part of a story that has nothing to do with badges or arrests. It is mostly about identity and a truth that stayed hidden for years.Franklin Beaumont is not just another criminal seeking revenge, because he is revealed to be Cynthia’s biological father. At the same time, Larry Johnson, aka Pastor Curry, raised her as his own after Beaumont chose a life of crime. That truth turns the case personal, as Beaumont goes after the man who took his place in his daughter’s life.Curry’s past decision to walk away from crime and raise the child created a pretty powerful conflict. Beaumont’s partner had wanted a different life for her child, and Curry became that path for her. Because of that, Beaumont never got to be part of it.After spending years locked away, Beaumont comes out to find a life that has moved on without him. His partner is gone, his daughter grew up with someone else, and he has no place in that story.Which is when Beaumont goes after Curry in Episode 13 of Boston Blue, and it leads to a hostage typed situation that also involves Cynthia.Danny and Lena arrive, but it does not turn into a shootout. Instead, Reverend Peters steps in again, even after being shot earlier. He recognizes something important, that Cynthia looks like Beaumont. Then, the Reverend takes action to stop Beaumont from going too far, and so, no one dies. The situation could have gone in a completely different direction, but it is stopped just in time.Internal tension and personal fallout ripple through the teamWhile the main case drives Episode 13 of Boston Blue (Beaumont, Curry, Cynthia, and the Reverend), there is a second story also running, which focuses on internal friction within the department.Sean and Jonah find themselves with a complaint, and what starts as a really small routine issue soon seems to turn into something bigger about authority. Talk about escalations! The complaint comes from how they handled an arrest earlier in the day. Sean and Jonah jumped in and caught a suspect who other officers had been chasing for blocks, which did not sit right with the team already on it.On top of that, Jonah already had a reputation for being a bit reckless, so this incident pushed things over the edge and finally got written up officially.Sarah handles the situation directly, and she calls out behavior that others have ignored. That includes going outside the chain of command, which becomes a major issue.Jonah’s attitude also stands out the most because he carries himself like someone who does not feel pressure the same way others do.Sean reacts a bit too differently, as he accepts the consequences without pushing back. Then there is the arrest made by Sean and Jonah, which goes viral, labeled with a “hot cop” tag, and it turns into a running joke inside the station. On a more serious note, Mae, while dealing with her father’s shooting, also finds out something about her mother’s death in Episode 13 of Boston Blue. It was a case of suicide, and this has now left a lasting impact on her.It also forces her to face the fact that she has not been fully honest with her own children about their grandfather.Episode 13 of Boston Blue makes use of one violent moment to open up multiple layers of story. The shooting during a community outreach event makes that clear pretty fast.It ties crime, family, and past choices into one story, and at the same time, internal conflicts in the station also add depth to the rest of the episode.Stay tuned to Soap Central for more updates on Boston Blue and more.
