Bridgerton Season 4 has a big connection with one of the biggest film franchises in Hollywood, and it's something longtime fans are already excited over. Premiering on 29 January, the fourth season of the regency drama has brought in new characters and new arcs, but nostalgic fans have pointed out a big connection the show now has to the Harry Potter franchise.
One of the new characters on Bridgerton Season 4 is Lady Penwood, who has two daughters debuting this season as she arrives at Violet Bridgerton's masquerade ball. But her intentions are a little more than just socializing; she has her eyes on Benedict Bridgerton as a suitor for one of her daughters.
She is also the owner of the household that Sophie Baek works at. Yes, Sophie, who is the Lady in Silver and the object of affection for the young Bridgerton who is set on not bowing down to marriage.
If you think she looks familiar, then it's because she played a major character in the Harry Potter franchise. The actress Katie Leung previously played Cho Chang in the films, a student from Ravenclaw who was Cedric Diggory's girlfriend before he dies and later Harry's crush and his girlfriend. She was first introduced in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Harry's crush and was later seen in subsequent films.
It's certainly refreshing to see her in a new character, without the wand and the robes. The fourth season introduces Lady Penwood as kind of an antagonist, and it will be interesting to see what turn her arc takes.
How does Bridgerton Season 4 end?

Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 ends on a note that feels like a gut punch. Episode 4 closes with Benedict Bridgerton finally giving in to his desire for Sophie Baek, only to follow it up with the worst possible sentence he could offer her: “Be my mistress.”
Their secret meeting on the staircase of Bridgerton House is charged with everything they have been refusing to say out loud. This is not their first kiss, but it is the first time Benedict tries to define what they are. Shaped by the rules of the Ton and his own fear of consequence, he believes he is offering Sophie the best compromise available to them, but Sophie hears something else entirely.
For Sophie, the word mistress is not romantic or tempting. She is the child of a lord and a maid who lived that exact life, and she knows how little protection it offers. Her mother’s fate, and the cruelty she endured under her stepmother Lady Penwood has taught her better than to accept an invitation like this. To protect herself, she runs.
The season's first part has been quietly building toward this moment. Benedict is drawn to Sophie twice over, first as the mysterious Lady in Silver and then as the maid he sees every day. He believes these are two different women, and Violet’s advice pushes him to choose reality over fantasy but the tragedy is that he already has both.
It will be interesting to see what turn things will take now, with the second part all set to drop in February.
Bridgerton Season 4 is streaming on Netflix.
