Carrie, the miniseries from Mike Flanagan, which will adapt Stephen King's novel of the same name, will be released on Prime Video October 7, 2026. Starring Summer H. Howell as the titular character, the upcoming show will be adapting a novel that has been adapted multiple times before. It has already been announced that Flanagan's version will have differences from the earlier adaptations in the way it addresses the story and its characters. While many viewers might think that they know the biggest twist of the upcoming show, Mike Flanagan is confident that they don't. Fans are making guesses regarding what the big plot twist is going to be, but Mike Flanagan thinks no one will see it coming. Flanagan recently spoke to ComicBook about the show and how it is going to be different from the earlier adaptations. When asked how he has approached the show differently when viewers know what happens in the end, Flanagan said:“It’s one of my favorite things about this project, because this is one of the first times in my career I can honestly say you don’t. But it’s one of those things everyone thinks they do. I thought I did.”Speaking further about the show, he said"That’s the thing about Carrie. You know Carrie is going to the prom, but do you know how?" Flanagan also explained that while other adaptations have shown the prom scene as the climax, the upcoming show will use it as a foundation for what happens next. Thus, the prom scene might be the actual climax of the show but lead to it. Flanagan then said,"I will say that we go to the prom because, of course we do, but it’s a version of the prom no one’s ever seen. Our prom takes us out of the gym, of course, but also takes us out into a much bigger world that I don’t think Stephen King certainly hadn’t laid the groundwork for back in the ’70s. And I think that DePalma never would have imagined for his adaptation. So it’s really exciting."
