Charlie Sheen reunites with dad Martin Sheen for new AMC comedy Happy Jack

Charlie Sheen is reuniting with his father Martin Sheen to star in AMC's upcoming comedy series, Happy Jack. Martin and Charlie Sheen have played on-screen father and son multiple times before and will do the same in the upcoming comedy series.

Happy Jack is a half-hour comedy series that will have 6 episodes and will be released in 2027.

All we know about Happy Jack starring Martin Sheen and Charlie Sheen

Martin and Charlie Sheen have played father-and-son duos multiple times, such as in Anger Management, Wall Street, and No Code of Conduct. They are reuniting to play yet another father and son duo in Happy Jack. While AMC is mostly known for its dramas, it is producing a half-hour comedy series after quite some time and is evidently going with a cast that is best in the genre.

According to AMC's press release, the synopsis of Happy Jack is as follows:

Charlie Sheen plays Jack, a bit of a lifelong ne’er-do-well. He’s got two great daughters (though his Dad, played by Martin Sheen, deserves more credit for how they turned out). Kate runs Jack’s company and keeps him on the rails while Sam is a wild child who is more like her Dad...

We will thus get to see not only a father-son duo in Jack and his father, but also the dynamic between Jack and his two daughters, who are quite different from one another. The synopsis continues:

... When Sam comes home to introduce everyone to her new boyfriend, Jack’s shocked to learn Paul, a former investment banker turned van life guru, is the same age as he is. Shocked at first (hypocrisy be damned), Jack soon realizes he’s got a choice to make. Will he keep looking out for number one, or embrace this last chance to be a real part of his daughters’ lives?

Besides acting together, Martin Sheen and Charlie Sheen both have extensive filmographies. Martin Sheen is known for his roles in Apocalypse Now, The West Wing, Badlands, The Subject Was Roses, and Grace and Frankie, among other projects. Charlie Sheen is known for his roles in Two and a Half Men, Platoon, Hot Shots, and Eight Men Out, among other projects.

Happy Jack is written and executive produced by Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, who also serve as showrunners. Other executive producers of the show are Todd Christopher, Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Jason Wang, and Charlie Sheen. The Tannenbaum Company, AMC Studios, and 20th Television are the production companies behind the show.

Charlie Sheen, who is returning to television after quite some time, spoke about the upcoming show, saying:

“I’ve always heard the moments that truly matter happen when they’re supposed to. The good folks at AMC have played a huge hand in deciding that moment is now. It’s no secret that it’s been a minute, and I’m thrilled to be going back on television in such a meaningful way in an equally wonderful show. The crew has reassembled – suffice it to say, it’s time to give the people what they want.”

Filming for Happy Jack will begin in 2027, and the show is going to be filmed in the same studio where Friends was filmed. The show will premiere on AMC later on in 2027.
