Chicago Med Season 12 Episode 3: Goodwin returns as nurse and joins Charles to take Miranda down- Recap ahead

Chicago Med Season 12 Episode 3, titled They Call Me Ms. Goodwin premiered on October 21, 2026, at 8:00 PM ET on NBC. The episode will also be available to stream on Peacock the following day. Previously, in Chicago Med Season 12, Goodwin took Miranda's deal. She accepted a position as the ED's new nurse.

According to Chicago One Center, Episode 3 begins with Goodwin getting ready for the day. She addresses the staff and their questions in the ED. Charles isn't elated to see Goodwin in this position. Elsewhere, Miranda pulls aside Archer and Goodwin to ask them about the loophole they found in her deal. Miranda isn't happy with Goodwin coming back to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Goodwin helps a patient named Lam Ka Fai. Lam Ka Fai then meets Dr. Wu. Elsewhere, multiple car crash victims arrive in the ED.

Things turn chaotic when Gail, the driver, gets into a heated argument with Mrs. Driscoll. Goodwin calms them down. Wu makes it clear that she did not like Goodwin interfering and asks her not to give patients a treatment plan without consulting her.

Chicago Med Season 12 Episode 3 recap: Sharon Goodwin is back at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center

Goodwin is finally back at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as a nurse. She takes on the responsibility happily. However, Dr. Wu seems unhappy with Goodwin helping the patients with treatment plans.

Asher helps Harper, a pregnant woman. Asher calls for Ripley when a patient named Matthew struggles with a shoulder injury. While Asher treats Harper, Harper's car is taken to the impound lot. Goodwin then talks to Archer about Dr. Wu's patient. Charles speaks to Goodwin and asks whether she is really ready to take up nursing again. He gets angry when Goodwin refuses to tell him.

Gail asks Goodwin about the man she hit. Goodwin tells her that the man she hit was brain-dead. Goodwin then meets Sloan, who learns that Goodwin had asked Archer to help Gail move up the lung donation list. The cops confirm that Gail wasn't drinking during the car crash.

Elsewhere, Asher and Ripley talk with Harper and Matthew about losing their shelter when she is so close to her delivery.

Asher suggests that Harper stay in a women's shelter. However, Harper doesn't want to be separated from Matthew. Goodwin, Archer, and Wu work on Gail; her health begins to worsen. Archer takes Goodwin's side, leading to a rift with Wu.

Later, Matthew is unable to find Harper, and he worries. Frost finds Harper hyperventilating near the stairwell. He helps her calm down. Asher and Ripley continue to worry about Harper. Asher plans to exaggerate either Matthew's or Harper's ailment to get them admitted.

Goodwin overhears them and promises to look at their charts to find a way out. Goodwin comes up with a solution for the couple. She decides to shelter them on the basis of testing the couple for exposure to a virus.

Frost and Charles treat a young patient named Alex in Chicago Med Season 12 Episode 3

Frost treats a child named Alex. Alex has burns on his arms, and when Frost and the nurse open his shirt to look for injuries, they find bruises on his chest. Alex's grandmother arrives with more children and is shocked to see his bruises. Frost speaks to Charles about Alex's injuries. Charles speaks with Alex's grandmother and learns Alex has the habit of taking care of himself. She wonders why she missed Alex's injuries.

Charles gets an idea and decides to run a test. He asks Frost and Alex to submerge their hands in a bucket of water. Frost removes his hand, but Alex remains submerged for a longer time. Charles finds out that Alex might have CIP, which prevents him from feeling pain. Sloan steps in and removes Alex from Joanne's home. The CPS also opens an investigation into potential child abuse.

Frost and Charles confront Sloan and ask the CPS to stand down. However, the new system flagged Alex's condition and called the DCFS automatically. Charles says that a computer cannot decide whether an investigation should take place. Frost breaks his tablet and rushes out.

Charles and Goodwin team up to take Miranda down in Chicago Med Season 12 Episode 3

Gail finally prepares for a lung transplant and learns that she is receiving the lung of the man who died in the accident. The victim's wife protests; however, Goodwin tries to calm her down. Gail declines the lung and apologizes to Goodwin about turning it down.

Goodwin asks Gail to forgive herself. Gail insists that it's her fault and she shouldn't have been driving that day. Wu confronts Archer about Goodwin, but he defends her. Goodwin steps in to side with Wu. Goodwin wants to be treated like any other nurse in the hospital.

In the end, Goodwin tells the entire truth to Charles. Charles thanks her and says that he is grateful to have a friend like Goodwin, and they decide to take Miranda down.
