Chuck Lorre praises Jim Parsons' dedication addressing the "miserable" The Big Bang Theory comment 

The Big Bang Theory wrapped up with its final season on May 16, 2019. Created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, the hit sitcom delves into the lives of a group of socially awkward scientists: Raj Koothrapalli, Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, and Howard Wolowitz. In the July 13 episode of All Out With Jon Dean, Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, shared that filming for the series gave him some of the best moments of his life. However, it left him feeling 'stressed' and 'miserable', he shared,

"I was miserable. I was not happy. I was stressed. I felt that there were so many plates I was supposed to be keeping in the air and that the success and good things of life that were happening were only due to this overworking discipline and whatever. Maybe to some degree it was true I can't say. But I wouldn't do that again."

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Chuck Lorre reacted to Jim Parsons calling the experience on The Big Bang Theory 'stressful'. Lorre called Parsons disciplined, prepared, and hardworking. He praised the actor's dedication to the sitcom. The Big Bang Theory ran for 279 episodes between 2007 and 2019. Jim Parsons' Sheldon Cooper was a pivotal part of the show.

Chuck Lorre appreciated Parsons for his dedication and hard work for twelve long years. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he shared,

"It's remarkable. And he never whined or cried or bitched or moaned. He just showed up and delivered . He's remarkable. Great talent.

During the All Out With Jon Dean interview, Parsons, who won a Golden Globe and 4 Emmys for his performance in the CBS sitcom, shared that the accolades were not worth the stress he experienced. He said,

"“I wouldn’t do that again and for any amount of money."

When the host asked whether Parsons was dedicated due to his strong work ethic, Parsons noted that it was more like obsessive behaviour. He admitted that he was disciplined and had a good work ethic but called it OCD in nature. When Dean asked whether young actors could balance their lives while filming for such a big project, Parsons shared he was unsure. However, he pointed out that he wouldn't go back in the past to change things. He added,

"I wouldn’t be where I am right now if I hadn’t had that time of life and that somewhat self-tortured nature was part of it."

Apart from The Big Bang Theory, Parsons served as the narrator for spinoff Young Sheldon.

The latest spin-off of the CBS sitcom, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, premieres on July 23, 2026, on HBO Max. The cast features Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and John Ross Bowie. The show follows the comic book store owner, Stuart Bloom, as he attempts and fails to save the universe due to his unlucky nature. He now must stop a multiverse armageddon after accidentally damaging a device created by Sheldon and Leonard.

In the interview with Entertainment Tonight, when Lorre was asked whether The Big Bang Theory cast will appear in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, he replied,

"Watch every episode. I think there you are in for some surprises."
