On the other hand, Bill was still reeling from the truth about his father's past in CIA Season 2 Episode 2. When Bill showed frustration, Colin reminded him that his mother and Katie are also unaware of his professional identity, making his father's actions justified. While Colin offered a different perspective on Bill's situation, Bill revealed that Toni was in town and wanted to return to the CIA. By the episode's end, Colin found a way to let go of his past, leading to a fresh start.

CIA Season 2 Episode 2 began with Bill and Colin meeting with Russian spy Viktor Molotov. Viktor and his comrades used to identify American assets in the USA. Viktor refused to take part in the operation when it posed a threat to his family. But the situation was dire. With everything going on in Ukraine, Viktor's comrades were desperate to send a message and wanted a bloodbath.

Viktor separated himself from the operation and refused to participate, which labeled him a traitor. Viktor revealed that he was poisoned with ricin by his comrades and had only twelve hours to live. Viktor asked Bill and Colin for help in identifying his killer in exchange for security for the US assets in Russia.

Since Viktor was dying anyway, he also expressed his last wish to see a cello performance by one of his old friends. But CIA Season 2 Episode 2 took a turn when a new female CIA analyst entered the picture and presented a way to catch Viktor's killer. Bill and Colin used the new asset and had her dress up like the Russians wanted. She proved to be a fruitful bait, and Viktor's comrades eventually abducted her.

Bill and Colin were tasked with rescuing their agent while capturing the bad guys who poisoned Viktor. The stand-off took place on a bridge. The duo rescued their officer before the bad guys were forced off the road. The episode saw a turning point when Viktor recognized the man who poisoned him. Viktor believed in avenging the Russian way by killing the enemy on the spot. However, Viktor had a change of heart as he was dying anyway. He traded off killing his attacker for seeing the cello performance of his old friend. The episode concluded with Viktor choosing peace (instead of revenge) in his final moments.

Viktor's decision had a major impact on Colin in CIA Season 2 Episode 2. The Russian spy's decision to let go of the past to live in the present inspired Colin, and he let go of his basement board and pictures with Toni by burning them. Elsewhere, Colin's words seemed to have a major impact on Bill, as he contemplated revealing the truth about his job to Katie.
