The murder of Sandra Birchmore is one of the most gruesome deaths in Massachusetts. The correspondent in Sandra's murder case, Nicole Moeder, reportedly spoke to Anne Emerson from Criminally Obsessed about a 'very gruesome' testimony given by Matthew Farwell, who has pleaded not guilty to killing Sandra and causing the death of her unborn child. Nicole revealed,
"The testimony, as expected in a case like this, is very gruesome, very graphic."
The NBC10 reporter had been covering the trial from inside Boston Federal Court. Over several weeks of testimony, she had closely followed the evidence presented to the jury and observed the reactions of jurors, Matthew, his defense attorneys, and Sandra Birchmore's family and friends throughout the proceedings.

Sandra Birchmore's murder investigation: Nicole Moeder broke silence about Matthew Farwell's 'no camera' trial
While revealing the testimony to Anne Emerson, Nicole highlighted numerous pieces of testimony that had been presented during the trial without any camera. These included 40,000 explicit text messages exchanged between Sandra and Matthew that started when Sandra was a teenager, Sandra's death (evidence that prosecutors presented before the jury, which had been staged to look like a suicide), and testimony from Matthew's twin brother, William Farwell.
Nicole said that the testimony had been 'very gruesome' and graphic, which was expected in a case of this nature. She added,
"Oftentimes, really from the beginning of testimony, jurors started to hear very graphic descriptions from text messages that an FBI agent read between Sandra Birchmore and Mackie Farwell talking about their sexual experiences that they had together, including when she was 15 years old in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The age of consent is 16."
According to Nicole, the jury had repeatedly been shown graphic autopsy photographs throughout the trial. She said that the pictures were presented during testimony from the medical examiner, first responders, and some of the first police officers who arrived at the scene. The jury also saw photographs of Sandra Birchmore's body and the several injuries she had sustained.
The cause of Sandra Birchmore's death
CBS News revealed that Sandra died from asphyxia. Prosecutors argued that she was murdered, while the circumstances surrounding her death continued to be examined in court.
NBC10 Boston mentioned that Sandra joined the Stoughton Police Explorers program in 2010 when she was 12 and remained involved until sometime in 2016. In March 2012, Matthew Farwell joined the department, and court records stated that he began communicating with Sandra online as early as that year. At that time, Sandra was 15, and Matthew was 26.
Between 2019 and 2020, Matthew and Sandra exchanged several text messages. Court records alleged that Matthew was involved in a long-term s*xual relationship with Sandra. The documents also referenced messages in which the two discussed their s*xual encounters and described incidents of apparent s*xual violence. Matthew repeatedly instructed Sandra to delete such messages from her phone and Facebook account.
Court records alleged that Sandra told Matthew she wanted a child and that they reached an agreement under which Sandra would remain silent about Matthew's alleged criminal conduct and extramarital relationship if he helped her become pregnant. According to the filings, Sandra later discovered she was pregnant and texted Matthew that he was the father.
On February 1, 2021, federal investigators alleged that Matthew murdered Sandra by strangling her inside her Massachusetts apartment and then staged the scene to make her death appear to be a suicide.
