Netflix's The Secret of Secrets has added two more actors to its cast: Ben Levi Ross and Mamadou Athie. Athie is known for his work in The Drama and Uncorked, while Ross has appeared in Ragtime and Elsbeth. The two will be sharing the screen with The Gilded Age's Morgan Spector, who takes over as Robert Langdon after Tom Hanks played the character on the big screen.

The book was published last September, but Netflix had already announced an adaptation of the book in May of that year. The news of the two actors joining the cast coincides with filming beginning in Prague.

Netflix has confirmed that The Secret of Secrets has started filming:

Ben Levi Ross and Mamadou Athie have joined the cast of the Netflix show, as Alex Conan and Michael Harris. Meanwhile, the production team has started shooting the series in Prague. Netflix released a BTS photo of Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall, who are playing Robert Langdon and Katherine Solomon, respectively. The caption on the Instagram post read:

"Production is officially underway on our upcoming series adaptation, starring Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall, based on the mystery thriller “The Secret of Secrets” by Dan Brown."

Thus, it is unclear if the Netflix adaptation is called "The Secret of Secrets" or not. But given that Dan Brown has a huge fan following when it comes to conspiracy thrillers, it wouldn't be surprising if Netflix does retain the book title for the adaptation as well.

What is the series about?

If it follows the book's plot closely, then we will see Robert Langdon go on a journey he never went through before. Dan Brown presented a plot that blended science fiction elements with mystical lore. In this book, he is in a race against time to save the life of a missing scientist and, more importantly, the manuscript, which supposedly could change the way the human mind is understood. The official logline of the series reads:

"The series will follow Langdon as he races against ancient forces — and the clock — to rescue a missing scientist and recover her groundbreaking manuscript. The contents of the manuscript could forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. Blending futuristic science with mystical lore, the adaptation will deliver the suspense, jet-setting intrigue, and era-spanning mysteries that have made Brown’s Langdon novels a global phenomenon."

This is the fifth adaptation of a Dan Brown novel after three movies with Tom Hanks as Langdon and The Lost Symbol TV series (2021), which starred Ashley Zukerman as the Harvard professor.
