Marvel Television has confirmed Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's genre, and it has surprised the fans. Instead of action, Season 2's genre has been listed under the drama category. This has some wondering if the upcoming season, scheduled to release next month, will have less action. However, that will not be the case, as the Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale ended with a setup for an action-packed Season 2.

The teaser trailer released last month reveals exactly what the upcoming season is about: NYC under Fisk's mayoral administration. New York will still be under the Kingpin's curfew as Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres in March.

Why Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's genre categorization is not surprising for fans:

Born Again is a continuation of Netflix's Daredevil, which ran for three seasons. The original series, in addition to the iconic fight scenes, was rich with dramatic storylines. The Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 premiere even kicks off on a shockingly dramatic note as Foggy Nelson, a character that fans got accustomed to in the Netflix show, is killed by Bullseye.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is continuing season 1's storyline and is set to introduce new storylines like Mr. Charles and the power he represents. Thus, there is more to the upcoming season than just action. Plus, there is also the factor of Matt standing up to power. Brad Winderbaum alluded to darker themes in the upcoming season in an Entertainment Weekly interview two months ago:

"Daredevil is a revolutionary in this season. He's a rebel and it's fun to see him go up against the power of the city."

Showrunner Dario Scardapane even revealed that he looked at the French Revolution as a reference while filming Born Again Season 2 in the same interview:

"It feels like one misstep and loved ones disappear. You are taken, there's no way out."

But it is Jessica Jones' (Krysten Ritter) return that has fans excited for the second season. It seems that the brash super-powered private investigator is back after a brief hiatus, as she was last seen in 2019's Jessica Jones Season 3. Ritter addressed her return in a ScreenRant interview last year:

"It's really exciting. The fans have been so vocal, and we're back by popular demand, and it's really exciting and probably how these guys feel like putting those boots on again--it was as if no time had passed. A character that you play for so long really gets into the cells of your body, and it's fun to then find ways to go deeper. It's kind of like riding a bicycle, and I'm so excited. I think what we're doing is really cool, and she's an iconic character that I adore and love, and she means so much to me."

What is Born Again Season 2 about?

Season 2 will be focused on Matt and his resistance force attempting to bring down Wilson Fisk's regime. At the same time, Murdock will also try to bring Vanessa Fisk to justice, as she is the true mastermind behind Foggy's death. As The Man Without Fear and his army try to free NYC, Jessica Jones will probably join them in this fight. The official synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 reads:

"In season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild."

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 streams on Disney+ from March 24, 2026.
