Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 was released back in 2025, and while the show received a fairly positive response from fans, the showrunners were not happy with the course of action being taken for the storyline. Therefore, midway through production, the creative team took the story back to the drawing board and decided to put a fresh set of minds to the task.

The team of head writers was replaced, and showrunner Dario Scardapane took up the task of rewriting the course of the tale. Now, ahead of the release of Season 2 of the show, Scardapane opened up about the challenges they faced and the changes fans can expect to see in the upcoming season.

Dario Scardapane opens up about his experience taking over the creative overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again ahead of Season 2

In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Dario Scardapane got candid about his experience taking over the creative overhaul for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, officially bringing the show back on track with respect to the MCU lore.

Scardapane spoke about the actual challenge that they faced with Season 1, admitting that the show leaned more towards the courtroom side than the action side, which was not what fans wanted to see.

"The task of season one was a really sick kind of fun. They'd gone in a direction where it was a different kind of show. It was much more of a procedural, much more focused on the courtroom."

He explained that the show's ending was more of a "cobbled-together Frankenstein," but that was the best they could do to enter Season 2 with a fresh approach.

"[We had to make] do this cobbled-together Frankenstein. By landing really strongly at the beginning and end with an idea of 'This is what the show wants to be, this is what the show is', we were able to kick the narrative into the second season relatively unfettered."

Another thing that Scardapane noticed and fixed in Season 2 was the evolution of Karen Page's character.

"When I came into season one, and Karen was originally not a big part of the narrative – or no part of it at all – I was like, 'Guys, guys, guys, we can’t do that!' Karen’s got to be a part of this world for a lot of reasons, and we didn’t have as much of her as I would have liked in season one."

He speaks about the changes that fans can expect to see in Season 2 to rectify this as well.

"In season two, theevolution of Karen Page feels so on path with everything that’s come before. In my mind – and in Debs’s mind – she’s never been a sidekick; she’s never been a girlfriend. She’s always been somebody who both mirrors and pushes Murdock – not always in the best way."

Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Matt Murdock in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 on March 24, 2026.
