Thanks to Charlie, the Dessens landed in a seemingly perfect world that was quite different from their real world. Jason and Daniela pawned their wedding rings to afford a hotel room and decided to look for jobs. Meanwhile, the couple decided that Charlie needed a new school in this world. While Daniela managed to enroll Charlie in a school, they needed to submit his paperwork within 30 days. Through some digging, Daniela also discovered that their versions live in California in this world. While the geographical distance between them provided safety, the Dessens still wanted information on their counterparts to eliminate all risks.Meanwhile, Jason got a job in his new world in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 2. One of his new contacts at work introduced him to a man named Mitchel McNamara (the Agent hellbent on investigating Jason in the real world), who could help him get intel on the Dessens living in California. Mitchell did some digging and was stunned to discover that there are two versions of the Dessen family in this world. While Amanda had doubts about Ryan's plan, she was sympathetic towards him and decided to help him. Leighton 2 opened his place for the duo to work and Ryan managed to recreate a near-exact replica of the dr*g. Amanda realized that the difference might benefit them and Ryan's new dr*g was ready.With the authorities on the hunt for the Box, time was running out for Ryan and Amanda in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 2. Before deciding on a world, the duo spotted Jason 1 (with a camera installed near the Box) and falsely believed that he was unable to reunite with Daniela and Charlie. This filled Amanda with deep guilt.Amanda was already having nightmares about Blair and this new information about Jason 1 disturbed her. Determined to save Ryan, she decided to accompany him to a new world. Remembering the patterns she followed with Jason 1 during their travels in Season 1, Amanda and Ryan checked into a hotel they used to stay in, unaware that the Dessens were also staying there.The final moments of Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 2 saw Amanda and Ryan re-enter the Box the next morning. It turns out that McNamara was keeping tabs on Jason 1, which led him to the Box. After Jason 1 was gone, McNamara inspected the Box and found it empty.
