Dark Matter Season 2 pushes Daniela to the brink as Jason takes responsibility - Episode 4 recap inside

Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4 is titled “Stars, Hide Your Fires” and was released on Apple TV+ on September 18.

The latest episode of the platform's sci-fi series picked up from the previous episode's cliffhanger. The intruder in Jason 1's new world turned out to be Leighton, who ended up there after fleeing from the hospital. But Leighton quietly left Jason 1's world after he told him to.

Elsewhere, Amanda and Ryan helped Ryan 4 reach his real world, which set the stage for an important conversation between Jason 2 and Amanda.

Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4 recap: Jason 2 accepts responsibility

After Ryan 4 was safely returned to his original world in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4, Jason 2 tried to apologize to Amanda. He accepted that while he sacrificed a life with Daniela for academic success, he was tempted when he saw another version of himself living happily with his family. Jason 2 tried to justify his behaviour by confessing that he was fascinated by Jason 1's life and filled with envy and regret when he saw him with Daniela and Charlie.

While Jason 2 tried to justify his actions, Amanda held him accountable and confessed that she truly loved him despite all his flaws. That is when Jason 2 finally took responsibility for his actions in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4 and confessed he never truly loved Amanda the way she deserved.

To make things right, he asked Ryan to give him some of the Lavender wings. While Ryan was initially hesitant, Amanda trusted Jason 2 and agreed. The trio then traveled to Ryan and Amanda's perfect world, which seemed changed when they arrived. As Jason 2 watched, Ryan and Amanda were arrested by officers for breaking quarantine and curfew, setting up yet another mystery.

Charlie craved normalcy in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4

Leighton's arrival and the horrifying truth about the Box scared Jason 1 and he suggested moving in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4. Since using the Box to travel to another universe was risky, he suggested moving to another state where nobody would recognize them. But his idea did not sit right with Charlie, who was finally settling into his new life with new friends. His father's actions had already taken a toll on his life and Charlie craved normalcy.

Charlie revealed that he had gotten a job with his friend Eduardo's help and the duo was about to move out for college. While Jason wanted the best for their family, Daniela chose to honour her son's wishes and the family did not move.

While Jason was obsessed with studying the Box in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4, Daniela had trouble separating her husband from the versions of himself who had traumatized and betrayed her in the past. Throughout the episode, Daniela kept seeing different versions of Jason, suggesting she was deeply affected.

In the final moments of Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4, Charlie moved out of the house. Once alone, Daniela and Jason were forced to confront their circumstances and Daniela confessed she had been seeing different versions of her husband.

Daniela confessed that while she still loved and trusted the real Jason, she could no longer separate him from the memories and pain the others had given her. When Jason asked if Daniela was ending their marriage, she did not give an answer. While she said they would always be there for each other, she decided it was time to distance herself from this madness.

Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 4 concluded with Daniela separating from Jason, leaving the couple with an uncertain fate.
