The latest episode of Dark Matter Season 2 began with a flashback. Jason 2 was discussing the possibility of a Multiverse with his colleagues at a pub. Since this was before Jason 2 had built the Box, he was likely taking in his friends' opinions on the matter. While the group agreed that the invention would be beautiful and open a door to many possibilities, it would also be terrible, which is exactly what happened after Jason 2 built the Box.

Amanda has a major realization in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 3: the Box takes you to the world where the person you are thinking about lives. Thanks to this realization, Amanda and Ryan 1 collectively thought about Jason 2 and succeeded in returning to Jason 1's original world. While Ryan 1 was initially unsure, he eventually believed that he was finally home when everything was in the right place at his house. The duo met Ryan 4 and Jason 2, who told them that Ryan 1's house was being staked out by Mitchel and his team. Just when Mitchel discovered Jason 2 in Ryan 1's house, he shot at his window, prompting all four to go on the run.

As Ryan 1, Amanda, Ryan 4 and Jason 2 got in a car, DARPA Agents and Mitchel followed them, leading to a deadly car chase. Jason 2 revealed that a lot has changed in Jason 1's real world since the Season 1 finale. Mitchel is hell-bent on discovering the mystery behind the multiple versions of Jason. He feared that Mitchel was planning to get the Lavender Fairy and follow them to the Box.

Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 3 recap: Jason 1 destroyed the Box

The second episode of Dark Matter Season 2 saw the Dessen family arrive in an alternate version of Chicago, which was still stuck in the 70s. While Charlie settled in his new school, Daniela began to trust her new world and even made dinner plans with this world's Blair. Although the Dessens had agreed on a password to help them identify each other, Daniela was on edge.

Meanwhile, Jason 1 was determined to destroy the Box. But when he discovered that the Box's walls were equipped with a machine, his curiosity got the best of him and he started thinking about ways to deactivate it. By the time Daniela showed up in Jason 1's workshop, she was shocked to see that he was actually studying the Box instead of destroying it.

Jason 1 confessed that he was having a hard time destroying the Box in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 3. Jason 2 had brought his thoughts into reality. While Jason 1 prioritized his family, another version of him achieved his scientific dream, which is why he was trying to build an off switch for the Box. This confession felt like a betrayal to Daniela, who blamed Jason 1 for choosing the Box over his family, even after all the chaos. She angrily left, which triggered Jason 1 and he finally dismantled parts of the Box until he was left with a hollow metallic cage.

In the final moments of Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 3, Jason 1 joined Daniela and Blair for dinner. After getting home, Jason 1 returned to the Box to destroy the remaining tech but was shocked to see that the Box had respawned. While the dismantled parts were still in their place, a new Box had appeared. This shocked Jason 1. He rushed back to his family and asked whether Daniela and Charlie had met another version of him that day.

When Daniela and Charlie both refused, Jason 1 had a chilling realization about the Box in Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 3. While Jason 1 could destroy the physical structure, he could not disconnect it from the corridor of the multiverse. According to Amanda's theory, the Box takes you to a reality where the person you are thinking about lives. Since the Box reappeared in Jason 1's current world, somebody has entered it to meet Jason 1. While the identity of that traveler is a mystery for now, it looks like destroying the Box is impossible.
