NBC's Season 5 podcast Dateline: Missing in America, released on July 27, 2026, revisits the disappearance case of Texas nurse and mother of three, Bianca Carrasco, who went missing from San Antonio on May 1, 2016. That evening, Bianca left her San Antonio home after arguing with her husband Daniel but never returned. The next day, her sister Jovanna Burney grew worried when Bianca's phone sent calls straight to voicemail.

Two days after Bianca's disappearance, Jovanna called the San Antonio Police Department to report her sister missing. She explained to them that she hadn't heard from her sister since the afternoon of May 1, and the phone had been off since that night. Jovanna further said that she asked her husband what was going on after finding Bianca's phone turned off. Her husband said that they had a fight on the night of May 1, and after that, she just walked away. He never saw her again.

When the police began searching for her, they followed several leads and looked into possible suspects. However, each path ended without any answers. First, they visited the home of Bianca's friend. The friend's mother told police that a woman (believed to be Bianca) had been there but was picked up by Bianca's husband around 4:00 p.m. on May 1st, the day she disappeared. Police then visited the home on May 3rd, the day Bianca was reported missing.

Police had also investigated Bianca's husband and a man she had been meeting often, but no one has been named as a prime suspect. Investigators have not ruled out foul play because only a few clues have been found. Bianca's family and friends insist she would not just walk away from her life because she was a caring mother.

“I will not be controlled by a man and money.”

Jovanna explained that she spoke with her around 2 in the afternoon. Bianca Carrasco appeared very frustrated with everything happening around her.
